You'll definitely want to find out how to craft the Design Draft for the Gotterdammerung in Final Fantasy 16, as its weapon stats make it the strongest sword in the entire game. It can only be acquired in the last section of Final Fantasy 16, however, and you will need to complete various side quests and collect materials to craft the powerful sword.

You certainly won't regret it if you manage to make the Gotterdammerung though, as the final few bosses and optional Hunts in the game require only the best gear that Clive can get his hands on.

So, check out the rest of this guide below to find out more about the Gotterdammerung in Final Fantasy 16, including all of the weapons stats, and everything you'll need to craft it.

Where can you find the Gotterdammerung design draft?

In order to get the Gotterdammerung Design Draft in Final Fantasy 16, you must complete the Blacksmith's Blues IV plus symbol side quest

As the quest name suggests, it is the fourth part of the Blacksmith's Blues questline, and you must complete the three prior entries before this one can appear. After you have progressed through the first three quests, Blacksmith's Blues IV should become available from August at the Hideaway once you have finished your first encounter with Barnabas.

As is the case with every other Design Draft in the game, completing the quest will make the Gotterdammerung an available craft from Blackthorne; but the materials you'll need to make it are quite hard to get your hands on.

In order to craft the Gotterdammerung Sword, you will need to acquire the following items in the game:

  • Ragnarok Sword
  • 3x Orichalcum
  • 2x Darksteel
  • 1x Primitive Battlehorn

The Ragnarok sword will automatically be given to you upon completion of the Blacksmith's Blues IV quest, but make sure to not sell it as there is no other way to obtain it for this craft.

How to get Orichalcum

Here are all of the ways that you can get Orichalcum in Final Fantasy 16:

  • Defeat Atlas in 'The Breaker of Worlds' notorious mark, found in Cressida.
  • Defeat Gorgimera in 'The Tricephalic Terror' notorious mark, found in The Velkroy Desert.
  • Defeat Behemoth King in 'The Masterless Marauder' notorious mark, found in Vidargraes.
  • Complete 'Under New Management II' side quest in Northreach.
  • Complete 'Duty Undying II' side quest in Tabor.

You will only need to do three of these, of course. So, you can pick whether you'd like to focus on the Hunt Board, or go for more side quests.

How to get Darksteel

If you're seeking some Darksteel though, this is what you'll need to do to get the rare material:

  • Defeat Thanatos in 'Usher to the Underworld' notorious mark, found in Titan's Wake.
  • Defeat Prince of Death in 'The Grim Reaper' notorious mark, found in  Royal Meadows.

These are the only two ways to get Darksteel, so you'd better be confident in dealing with tough foes. They are only A-rank in terms of difficulty though, so not as hard as some of the other Hunts in the game.

How to get a Primitive Battlehorn

For the last part of the Gotterdammerung sword, you will need to acquire a Primitive Battlehorn - which can be obtained by defeating the Gobermouch notorious mark.

To find the Gobermouch, you will want to head to Eistla and go southwest of The Maudlin Mason. It is only an A-rated Hunt, so shouldn't be too challenging for any seasoned fighters.

Whilst the weapon cannot be upgraded as it is a gold rarity item, it remains the best sword in the entire game with these base stats. With this, you'll be best equipped to take on any number of the extremely tough bosses, and set for when you decide to tackle New Game Plus.

That should be everything you need to know if you want to pick up the Gotterdammerung sword in Final Fantasy 16, so you'd better start collecting those rare materials.
