Finding the best party combinations in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the key to success, as I spent a lot of time during the game trying to find the perfect balance between the different members.

Each party member has their own specialisation in the game, from Aerith's magic-focused kit to Barret's long-range capabilities. Therefore, you often need to switch things up and try new combinations out to find your ideal, but I've got some fantastic suggestions that you can use straight away right here.

What are the best party combinations?

Party Style/Focus
Cloud / Yuffie / Tifa Damage / Healing & Ranged / Damage
Cloud / Red XIII / Barret Damage / Healing / Ranged
Cloud / Aerith / Barret Damage / Healing / Ranged
Cloud / Tifa / Cait Sith Damage / Damage / Healing & Luck
Cloud / Aerith / Tifa Damage / Healing / Damage

Cloud / Yuffie / Tifa

This was by far my favourite party combination when playing through Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, as you get high damage from all three members while having the healing capabilities of Yuffie too.

You will, of course, need to get Yuffie into your party so this combination isn't possible from the get-go, but once she's in the team then you'll be set. I made sure to have Cure and Revival (two of the best Materia) on Yuffie to increase her healing, while also having Cure on Cloud for some extra help.

I made sure to leave Tifa solely on damage-dealing duties, as she has the potential to inflict some serious pain and can easily build up stagger on even the toughest of foes.

Cloud / Red XIII / Barret

While I never quite gelled with Red XIII's Vengeance system, combining him with Cloud and Barret makes for a wonderfully balanced party.

You can always whack on some healing Materia, I'd definitely recommend using the Watchers Respite ability that you can use at around Chapter 10, as this allows you to convert your Vengeance Meter into healing for your whole party - and is incredibly strong.

Barret also makes a great addition to this party as he gives you ranged capability, which you'll find so helpful in countless fights. There are lots of enemies in Rebirth that characters like Tifa and Red will struggle to hit, so having Barret deal consistent damage and stagger them to the ground is super helpful.

Cloud / Aerith / Barret

Aerith isn't just my favourite character but she's by far the best healer in the game, so having her in your party is always going to be a good thing.

She is definitely not as strong or versatile when it comes to combat as the other five party members, but she more than makes up for it with her support capabilities.

Combining this with Barret's ranged options has you covered on pretty much all fronts, as Cloud himself does more than enough damage to lead a party on his own.

Cloud / Tifa / Cait Sith

This is a bit of a wildcard option that can backfire, but Cait Sith is just so much fun if luck remains in your favour. While strictly not a healer in the same way as Aerith, taking advantage of his Roll of the Dice ability can heal your entire party on a 5, or prevent them from taking any damage if you're lucky enough to land on a 6.

Of course, you aren't always going to be that lucky, but this is more than enough fun to add some spice into the second half of the game once you've got Cait Sith in your party - so definitely try it out.

You can largely swap out Tifa or Yuffie, Barret, or Red as damage dealers, but Tifa's strength definitely shines here and will more than make up for the times when Cait Sith isn't quite pulling his weight.

Cloud / Aerith / Tifa

The combination of Cloud, Aerith, and Tifa is almost too obvious not to include, as it gives you excellent physical damage, elemental capabilities, and healing too - what more could you want?

This is the combination that I used for most of the early game before Yuffie made her way into the party, and it proved to be viable in pretty much every situation. If you're not sure who to pick for your party and just want to stick to the basics, then you really can't go wrong with Aerith and Tifa. With how long Rebirth is though, I'd definitely recommend trying everything out to see what works best for you.

Best postgame party combination

While Cloud is still one of the strongest characters in the game, the fact that you can remove him from your party in the postgame opens up a variety of different options, and a party of Tifa / Aerith / Yuffie emerges as the ideal choice.

This gives a wonderful balance between healing, damage, elemental, and ranged attacks - letting you competently deal with any of the most challenging postgame threats that are ahead. I'd recommend having Yuffie focus solely on damage and elemental weaknesses as opposed to her healing hybrid that I've recommended before, as Aerith more than covers this herself.

Tifa will do more than enough damage herself, and you'll be able to use supportive wards as Aerith alongside healing and ranged magic to take down your enemies with ease. If you were to swap in Cloud though, you could put him in for Aerith and have healing on both him and Yuffie to make up for it.

One other thing to consider when choosing your party is what Synergy Abilities you've unlocked and the state of each character's Folio, alongside their weapon proficiency.

These will all factor into the strength of each character, and you're going to want to make sure that you have Synergy options between all three party members as they're essential to take down the toughest bosses in the game.
