How to hunt & dig up treasure with a Chocobo in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Here you'll find out everything there is to know about hunting down buried treasure and digging it up with your trusty Chocobo in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
As you explore the vast land of Final Fantasy 7, you’ll soon find that your trusty Chocobo can hunt and excavate treasure – so I'm here to show you how to do both so that you can grab some extra goodies in the game.
Your Chocobo is a pivotal part of FF7 Rebirth, and it's incredibly fun to deck them out in all manner of gear. However, while they can traverse treacherous terrain, their power to scour for treasure is also second to none.
How to hunt for treasure
To find treasure in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you’re going to need to get your Chocobo to catch its scent by holding the Up Button on your DualSense controller.
While riding your Chocobo, you may notice a blue question mark appear over your head, as in the image above, which indicates that there is treasure nearby. When you hold the Up Button and turn in the direction the question mark is indicating to catch the scent, a trail will appear, leading you to the location of the treasure.
If there is an obstacle in the way, you’ll need to sniff the air again once you’ve moved around it so that the trail will continue. Often, the spots where the treasure is buried have rabbits nearby as another indicator.
How to dig up treasure in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
To excavate the treasure in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you’ll need to follow the trail to the very end, after which you can press the Down Button to peck at the ground and dig the treasure up, as below.
You’ll need to be somewhat precise, but once you do, you’ll have all manner of materials and, in some cases, crafting recipes and story-sensitive items.
With the amount of resources on offer here, travelling by Chocobo is a no-brainer.
