How to give a hired specialist a command in Fortnite

Fortnite's Spring Breakout Event has introduced a series of challenges to the game that revolve around hiring and giving commands to specialist characters that were recently added.
While hiring specialists in Fortnite is easy, giving them a command is an entirely different story. Keep reading our guide as we explain how to give a command to a hired specialist while sharing details on their location and how you can hire them during a match.
How do you give a hired specialist a command?
You can give a command to a hired specialist using the Follower Comms menu that you can access by pressing and holding the mid-mouse button on your PC or the left D-Pad on PlayStation and Xbox.
Doing so will open up the Follower Comms menu that you can use to command the hired specialist. The commands that you can give to a hired specialist include the following:
- Move
- Wait
- Follow
- Revive
Keep in mind if you press the buttons before hiring a specialist, you will open the normal Squad Comms. That aside, if you want to complete the Spring Breakout Challenge where you are asked to "Give a hired Specialist Character a command," you can use the "Move" to quickly complete the challenge and get 20,000 XP.
How to hire a specialist character
You can hire a specialist character in Fortnite using 200 Gold. First, drop at the specialist location whom you want to hire. Once there, interact with the specialist and choose the hire option, which costs you 200 Gold.

- Munitions Expert - Breakwater Bay
- Sludge - Steamy Springs
- Insight - Brutal Bastion
- Triage Trooper - Lonely Labs
- Garrison - Southwest part of the island
- Longshot - Tower, located west of The Citadel, named location
- Polar Patroller - Frozen lake, west of Brutal Bastion
- Remedy - Tower, southwest of Slappy Shores
