Genshin Impact Multiplayer: How To Unlock
These are the steps you will have to complete before unlocking multiplayer:
Lepus Chapter: Act I - Mondstadt Glider
This is the first set of quests granted to you by Amber. She will be waiting for you outside the Mondstadt Cathedral Plaza, if you have completed the Knight’s tutorial missions in Mondstadt. She will tell you that you must apply for a license to glide and will have to pass some tests with her.
To complete this stage of the quest, you will have to follow the training and fly through a set of rings through various obstacle courses in the skies around Mondstadt. The quest will end once Amber has had the interaction with the Knight of Favonius about the potential thief in the area that is using a wind glider to get around.
Join A Game
This must be a someone’s game that has the same World Level and Adventure Rank as yourself.
Achieve Adventurer Rank 16
This can seem difficult at first as you are only introduced to the Adventurer’s Guild after getting through the first tutorial missions. However, you can pre-emptively rack up Adventurer Points before this by simply exploring Teyvat through opening chests throughout the world, defeating enemies, and activating waypoints. Once you have the Adventurer Handbook and get to Adventurer Rank 12, Daily Commissions will unlock, which enable you to tackle more precise missions for higher XP. Each Daily Commission will earn you 225 XP to go towards climbing the ranks. Additionally, after every new rank gained you can collect rewards from the Adventurer’s Guild in Mondstadt.
Now you should have access to multiplayer. Simply click on the Main menu, co-op mode and request to join. Make sure you enter your friend’s UID (unique identifier number) correctly in the search bar.

Genshin Impact Multiplayer: How Many Players Are Allowed?
Playing co-op in Genshin Impact can be beneficial when grinding XP in domains and boss fights. There is a four-party limit in teams so you can have up to four of your friends join your game at one time. Make sure its with friends you trust, as unique items like elemental collectibles, aren’t shared amongst the party, or indeed any items retrieved from chests.
Genshin Impact: Co-Op Not Working?
If you have completed all requirements listed above and still can’t enter co-op, chances are it is because you or your friend is in the middle of a main story quest. Co-op can not be performed for main story quests, as such when in multiplayer certain NPC’s may be missing, and their shops inaccessible for a time. Some event tasks will also be shut, although some are available when in multiplayer.
