DLC armour is your reward for pre-ordering or buying the deluxe edition of God of War Ragnarok. The special armour can be equipped early on for a quick boost to your stats. Here is everything you need to know about how to get it and what it does.
What are the DLC armours?
There are two DLC armour sets available in the game:
- Risen Snow - Pre-ordering or Digital Deluxe edition
- Darkdale - Digital Deluxe edition
With the Risen Snow set, you get a breastplate, gauntlets, and a girdle for Kratos, as well as an outfit for Atreus. The armour pieces for Kratos give big boosts to strength and defence, as well as increased luck.
The breastplate has a special ability called Risen Might, which gives a chance for Kratos to get a boost of strength and stagger resistance when launching an enemy into the air. The other armour pieces also increase stun done to airborne enemies.
With the Darkdale set, you get a full set of Kratos armour, a new tunic for Atreus, as well as a grip for the Leviathan Axe and handles for the Blades of Chaos. The Darkdale chest armour has an effect called Enraged Slayer which restores Rage and Health when you get kills in Spartan Rage mode.
The full set grants increased strength, defense, and runic, while also increasing Rage gains from killing enemies afflicted by status effects using runic attacks. The handle for the Leviathan axe makes kills with Frost Awakened attacks causing shockwaves, and also reactivates Frost Awakened on the axe.
Similarly, the Darkdale handles for the Blades of Chaos make Flame Whiplash kills create a shockwave and cause increased burn effects.
How to get DLC armour
You do not simply start with the DLC armours equipped, or sitting in your inventory. You need to go and pick them up, but thankfully you do not have to wait long to do so.
Roughly an hour into the game, you will come to Brok and Sindri's house. When you can, head over to Brok's counter. There is a chest on the right side of it.
Interact with this chest, and you will find both the Darkdale set and the Risen Snow set inside. Once you have retrieved them, you can equip any of the pieces of either set straight away and begin reaping the rewards.
