The Blade of Olympus is Kratos' iconic weapon from the original God of War games, but it returns in the Valhalla DLC for Ragnarok. If you want to take a trip down memory lane, here's how you can secure the weapon yourself.
How to unlock & use the Blade of Olympus
On one of your early runs through Valhalla, Kratos will be reunited with Helios, the Greek God of the Sun and the first severed head that Kratos carried around before Mimir. After this reunion, Kratos must fight through some enemies while pushing a cage down a corridor from his past.
As you reach the end, Kratos manifests the Blade of Olympus which you then use to cut down the last group of enemies. Shortly after this, Kratos returns to the shore, the hub area before entering Valhalla.
Before you go back in for another run, visit the pedestal on the right before the door into Valhalla. This is where you can change which Spartan Rage you have equipped.
You'll find a new one here, called Legacy. This is the Blade of Olympus, and this is how you use it going forward. Like all Spartan Rage abilities, you must fill up your rage meter, then press R3 and L3 to activate it.
The weapon has the same range of attacks as your other weapons, such as light attacks, heavy attacks, etc. You can press R3 and L3 again to stow the weapon away, saving some of your rage meter for another use. Also, successful parries with the sword will increase your rage, allowing you to use the sword for longer.
From here, you can use it throughout the Valhalla mode. While you cannot use it in your first playthrough of the main game, by completing the Valhalla story you will unlock the Legacy Rage Path for use in new game plus, allowing you to play through the story a second time with the Blade of Olympus.
