While you can comfortably play through the entirety of Granblue Fantasy: Relink as the Captain, our character tier list shows that there are plenty of other Crewmates that compete to be the best.

You won't have them all from the start, and you'll need to work your way through the chapters and complete several quests, but you definitely won't regret it when your party is stacked with all of the best characters in the game.

SPOILER WARNING: Some of the characters listed below do constitute a spoiler for story events later on in the game. Proceed with caution if you don't want anything revealed.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink character tier list

Tier Characters
S Id, Lancelot, Zeta
A Vaseraga, Siegfried, Narmaya, Captain
B Charlotta, Ferry, Vane, Cagliostro, Rackam, Eugen, Rosetta
C Ghandagoza, Percival, Yordarha, Katarina
D Io

From my own experience when playing, Id is the best character in the game - as his combos deal high damage and his dragon transformation gives a huge boost to any battle.

Outside of this, both Lancelot and Zeta are excellent additions to any party. They offer fire and ice damage respectively, and deal a consistent barrage of damage if you manage to land your combos correctly.

The Captain remains the best choice among the main cast, so it's probably a good thing that you have to have them in your party in some capacity for the whole game. You're able to equip a wide range of skills as you increase their mastery, covering damage, healing, and status effects for a well-balanced build to either play or support your party.

Unfortunately, Io is the worst character in the game in my eyes, sitting solely at the bottom of the list in D Tier. While you can definitely still make her work down the line, her combos are very slow and unreliable, making her a chore to play and difficult to work against some of the more mobile enemies and bosses you'll encounter.

It's still worth checking out all of the characters individually as it can very much depend on how you adapt to each playstyle, but some Crewmates definitely surge above the rest when comparing their skills directly to each other.
