To make the most profit during your shift, you will need to know how to safely remove a Hardspace Shipbreaker reactor. Most ships in Hardspace Shipbreaker have key components that help them function, such as the ECU, fuse boxes, thrusters, and the reactor which ties it all together. To progress through the game, you will need to learn how to deal with the Hardspace Shipbreaker reactors in both Class I and II, so read on to see how.

Hardspace Shipbreaker Reactor: What Are They?

Reactors are what allow ships to actually traverse in space, making them the most valuable component in a given vessel. They are also extremely dangerous as they are volatile and highly radioactive, meaning they can very easily destroy huge portions of a ship if you're not careful. They will mainly explode if they go into meltdown, which can happen if you remove the coolant from the Hardspace Shipbreaker ECU

There are also two types of reactors in ships, Class I and Class II. Class I reactors are easier to remove, while Class II reactors require a few more steps. Class II reactors also come in larger ships only.

Firstly, you will need to identify the reactor of the ship, which can be done in the Scanner. Open the Scanner and change the mode to systems, which will allow you to see the reactor glowing purple. Looking directly at it will also highlight it and show you text directly telling you what it is.

For a Class I reactor, you should try to clear a path first by depressurizing the ship and deconstructing the area around the reactor. The best way to do this is by creating a hole in the floor, as you will need to put it in the barge below the dock to salvage it.

Once you think the route is optimal, remove the reactor from its mountain plate, and use the tethers to bring it down to the barge before it melts down. You'll know if you are successful as the progress bar at the top of the screen will have shifted and added money.

For the Class II reactors, it will take a little more work to pull all of this off. You'll need to start off by exploring the inside of the ship and searching the cockpit area for keys. If you don't manage to find one then that's ok as they don't always spawn, but it makes things slightly easier. You can use this key on a console somewhere around the reactor to eject the thrusters behind the ship.

If you don't find the key, then you can make your way outside of the ship and manually remove them from behind. This can be done by destroying the hubcaps on the back of the thrusters, which will cause them to pop out. After this, you will need to get back inside the ship and find the ECU, which glows green in the Scanner. Remove the panel from the front of it, and then pull out each coolant canister inside.

Once you've done this you are safe to start removing the reactor, but it will have gone into meltdown, meaning you need to be quick. Like with the Class I reactors, you can clear a path before disabling the ECU to make it easier. Just use a tether on the reactor, and then get it to the barge before it explodes for a big payday.

That's all for our guide on how to safely remove Hardspace Shipbreakers reactors.
