Helldivers 2 has an AFK timer that was initially added when the game had limited server capacity. Here's how long it is.
How long is the AFK timer?
The Helldivers 2 AFK timer lasts for 15 minutes, after which you'll be kicked back to the title screen. Once at the title screen, it asked me to make an input before I could be logged back in and placed on my ship.
The timer was added during patch 1.000.11 on February 22, as many players had abused finding a spot on the servers by staying AFK for hours and sometimes overnight.
While you'll be tempted to game the system in some way by keeping an input active (such as putting weight on your thumbstick to constantly stay moving), I discovered that this doesn't bypass the AFK timer, and I was still removed after 15 minutes.
Other than playing the game, the only reliable way to stay online is to make an input on your controller or mouse every ten minutes or so. So, if you're going fully AFK for more than 15 mins, you're out of luck.
