While Helldivers 2 is primarily played in third-person, you can also switch to a first-person view for a better look at what you're looking to kill. Here's an explanation of how to switch between camera angles.

Turning on first-person mode

You can enter first-person view in Helldivers 2 by aiming down your sights and pressing the right stick on your controller or the middle mouse button for PC players.

After activating one of the buttons above, you'll now always enter first-person when aiming. You can undo this and return to third-person by pressing the same buttons.

It's important to note that this won't change your perspective for everything, as the game will remain in third-person unless you are specifically aiming down your sights.

Currently, there is no way to enter first-person exclusively, and considering the first game never contained the option, it seems unlikely Helldivers 2 will.

While the difference between aiming in third and first-person is largely down to personal preference, entering the latter does give you a range and precision advantage for enemies far away.

How to change first-person bind

You can also change the binding to something else if you prefer by following the list of steps below:

  • Pause the game and select 'Options'
  • Press 'Controller'
  • Click 'Change Keybinds'
  • Head to the 'Combat' tab
  • Scroll down until you find 'Switch Aim Mode'
  • Change it to your desired input
