How do you solve mirror puzzles?
Thankfully, you'll be able to solve the first Hogwarts Legacy mirror puzzle fairly easily in the early side quest, Like a Moth to a Frame. After talking to Lenora Everleigh in the Central Hall, she'll introduce you to the first darkened metal moth-covered frame - perplexed as to how to properly restore the image with the larger moth missing at the bottom.
The Hufflepuff student will imply what you need to do first: cast Lumos. The frame will then fill with a certain spot in the castle. In every one of these mirror puzzles, casting Lumos shows part of the missing moth's location.
Fortunately, each moth in these Hogwarts Legacy mirror puzzles will always be nearby. Explore the immediate area whilst casting Revelio. Eventually, you'll notice a moth-shaped blue hue in a short distance. In the case of Like a Moth to a Frame, the moth can be found on the wall of the staircase southwest from its frame.
To complete the puzzle, cast Lumos again. The moth will follow the light of your wand - like a moth to a flame, as the quest's aptly name hints. Walk back to the frame with the moth following you, cast Lumos one last time, and the moth will enter the frame - re-completing the image, solving the puzzle, and giving you a Field Guide Page as a reward.
Now, as you find more Hogwarts Legacy mirror puzzles across the world, you'll be able to solve them with the same method.
