Hogwarts Legacy is the first time we have been able to completely explore the open world of Harry Potter in a video game, but you may be wondering just how long the game will take to beat after you have chosen your house and made your character.

Considering the huge open world on offer too, it will also be important to know just how long it takes to see everything in the game.

Disclaimer: While the creator of the Harry Potter franchise was not directly involved in the creation of Hogwarts Legacy, their comments on social media around transgender people are hurtful and dangerous given the size of their platform.

We’d implore you to read our explainer of the controversy so far, and consider supporting trans rights charities where possible.

How long is the story?

If you focus solely on the main story, only completing the side quests and assignments required as prerequisites to progress the story, it will take you between 25 and 35 hours to beat Hogwarts Legacy.

What if you want to see everything?

Hogwarts Legacy director, Alan Tew, says in an interview with ComicBook that with all of the main quests, side quests, and collectables, doing a 100% run of Hogwarts Legacy will take 80+ hours. With many large open-world style games, it really will depend on how you approach different missions and if you do much exploring.
