Modern Warfare 2 features a nuanced version of Gunsmith under the new name, Gunsmith 2.0, that totally changes how you unlock new weapons, attachments, and other such things, like changing Reticles and other customization options. In the previous iteration of Gunsmith, players could select an Optic and navigate to the Customize tab to change the Reticle. But Modern Warfare 2 players are unable to find any such option in the new Gunsmith 2.0, raising the question of how to change Reticle in Modern Warfare 2.

How To Change Reticle In MW2

When writing this article, the Gunsmith 2.0 featured in Modern Warfare 2 doesn't offer any Reticle option. Therefore, players cannot change Reticles in the game. Other than using different Optics attachments to change the look, feel, and action of the ADS.

Apart from that, Modern Warfare 2 also offers an in-game setting that lets you completely turn off the Reticle. Which, when combined with widescreen resolution and no HUD options, gives a complete cinematic look to your gameplay.

But, if you were trying to change the shape, size, color, and other attributes of the Reticle to improve your performance in Multiplayer matches, sadly, there are no such options for now.

When Is Reticle Customization Coming To Gunsmith 2.0 In MW2?

Since Gunsmith 1.0 featured a full-fledged Reticle customization option, there's a high chance that Modern Warfare 2 will also receive something similar with future updates. However, at the moment, there is no official statement or news on the Reticle customization feature from Activision or Infinity Ward's side. We will update this section of the article if we get any updates.

Alternatives To Reticle Change In MW2

For now, we recommend players reach Rank 4 in Modern Warfare 2's Multiplayer and unlock the Custom Loadouts option to customize the Optics attachment of any weapon to increase precision while giving a more personal look and feel.

And in case you want to see how a veteran of a player you are in Modern Warfare 2 and want to completely remove Reticle, follow the below steps:

  • Open Modern Warfare 2
  • Go to Settings.
  • Navigate to the Interface option.
  • Scroll till you find the Crosshairs option and turn it off.

On the contrary, if you want little extra support to improve your aim while playing Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer, we recommend you turn on the Center Dot feature from the same Interface settings.

That is it. That concludes our guide on how to change Reticle in Modern Warfare 2
