Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has the occasional Double XP weekend where players can reap the rewards of more experience. However, these are few and far between, meaning you'll need other ways to quicken the time it takes to rank up and get attachments for weapons.
So, here's our primer about earning Double XP Tokens in MW2, which involves farming the campaign.
How can you get Double XP Tokens?
If you don't want to spend any of your hard-earned money, then playing through the campaign is your only free option for securing more Double XP Tokens.
Only a select few of the 17 total missions offer these tokens, but playing through the whole campaign can easily be done in one afternoon. Here are the missions that reward Double XP tokens in MW2:
- Wetwork - Double XP Token
- Tradecraft - Double Weapon XP Token
- Close Air - Double XP Token
- Hardpoint - Double Weapon XP Token
- El Sin Nombre - Double XP Token
- Dark Water - Double Weapon XP Token
- Hindsight - Double XP Token
Some of the XP tokens are for general experience, which affects your rank, while others are for weapon experience, giving you more options for attachments and camos.
If you've already finished the campaign, replaying these missions won't offer you additional tokens. If you've already used them up, your only other options are to wait for the next Double XP weekend, or purchase tokens from the store.
For players who pre-ordered the Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 2, you should have 10 hours worth of Double XP Tokens to use if you haven't already.
There was also a Burger King promo during launch that could net you Double XP Tokens by purchasing a specific meal, though these codes have likely expired by now. It's worth trying if you have any lying around though.
