In Call of Duty Modern Warfare, there is a range of camouflages that can be equipped to your weapons, which all require a series of challenges to be completed in order to be unlocked. With 100 standard camos available for each gun, there are also four ‘Completionist’ camos, which require a lot of time and effort but reap the rewards.

The Gold camo is achieved by completing all the standard challenges on that single weapon. The Platinum camo is achieved by achieving Gold on all of the weapons in that class. For instance, once you achieve gold on all of the Assault Rifles, you will be rewarded with the Platinum Camo for each AR. In a similar fashion, you will unlock the Damascus Camo for achieving Gold on every weapon in the game. You can read more on the Damascus Camo here.

The final Completionist Camo is the Obsidian. A beautifully eerie black stone camouflage, the Obsidian Camo is one of the most sought-after camos on Modern Warfare and takes a humongous effort to get.

How To Get Obsidian Camo Fast

How to unlock Obsidian Camo fast?

The obsidian Camo can be achieved by completing a challenge after you have unlocked Gold on a weapon. It will consist of having to get 15 or more kills in a game, multiple times, with the exception of Melee weapons and Launchers. A full list of challenges for Obsidian is below.

  • Assault Rifles: Get 15 kills in a single match 200 times.
  • SMGs: Get 15 kills in a single match 150 times.
  • LMGs: Get 15 kills in a single match 150 times.
  • Shotguns: Get 15 kills in a single match 150 times.
  • Sniper Rifles: Get 15 kills in a single match 125 times.
  • Marksman Rifles: Get 15 kills in a single match 125 times.
  • Pistols: Get 15 kills in a single match 100 times.
  • Riot Shield: Get 750 kills.
  • Knife: Get 10 kills in a match 125 times.
  • RPG-7: Get 5 kills in a match 150 times.
  • PILA, Joker, and STRELA-P: Destroy a vehicle or killstreak 100 times.

In truth, it can take a minimum of 1,275 games to achieve Obsidian on every weapon, not including the Melee and Launchers, which can take additional time. However, we have some Call of Duty tips which can help you cut that time significantly.

Whilst the challenge says ’15 kills in a single match 200 times’, this isn’t strictly true. You can double down on this by getting 30 kills in a single match. This will count as two matches, meaning it could also be phrased as ’30 kills in a single match 100 times’. This also increases with each multiple of 15. If you get 45 kills with a weapon in one game, this will count as 3 towards the total, and 60 kills will count as 4, and so on. Choosing game modes where you can get a high number of kills will significantly cut down the number of games you will have to play. Playing objective-based games on small maps is your best option here, and most significantly Shipment, although it is not everyone’s cup of tea.

GGRecon tips to get The Obsidian Camo Fast

Choose your loadout wisely. Have attachments and perks that will allow you to engage in a maximum number of gunfights per game. Having a quick sprint-to-fire time and aim down sight speed can help you optimise your kills on these small maps. Attachments such as the 5mW laser sight, certain rear grips and stocks can assist you in this regard.

Play the objectives. A common misconception on objective game modes is that not going in the objective will get you kills. However, it is likely that the enemy team will be playing the objective and you can pick players off who are advancing towards it. Checking entry points to the objectives will see you engage in many more gunfights rather than camping outside them, pre aiming a single ally-way.

No Lethals. Whilst it may be tempting to throw frags into densely populated areas, for Obsidian you will have to rely solely on your gun skills. Kills with Lethals will not count towards your 15 kills, therefore it is best not to use these. Get used to moving quickly and swiftly to get around opponents, rather than throwing explosives as them.

[Camo] clan. Putting camo in your clan tag will also stop you getting trolled in chats and messages. It can be infuriating being killed by an RPG 5 times in one game, so putting this in your clan tag will help opponents realise there is a purpose behind the sweatiness.

Following these tips will get you the Obsidian Camo in no time.
