How to get to Fontaine early from Mondstadt in Genshin Impact
If you want to go to Fontaine early in Genshin Impact, there's a handy method you can use even if you're only in Mondstadt. Here's how to access this new area.
Fontaine, the Hydro region in Genshin Impact, is a late-game area full of sparkling waters and gorgeous views. It's one of my favourite regions, and you can get there early from Mondstadt.
New players or returning players would normally need to progress through the story to gain access to new regions, but there's a handy method you can utilise to get there early in the game.
How to get to Fontaine from Mondstadt
You can access Fontaine after completing the Archon quest "Song of the Dragon and Freedom". This is the third quest in Mondstadt where you go to Stormterror's lair.
After completing this quest, check the map for a waypoint you can teleport to. The waypoint is located west of Mondstadt, and joins Fontaine to Sumeru, the region below it.
You may need to zoom in to see the waypoint.
The waypoint is in "Realm of Farakhkert, Sumeru". All you need to do is select this teleport after completing the Mondstadt questline and you'll be good to go.
Accessing Fontaine and Sumeru early
You'll spawn on the edge of a cliffside. Drop down to the north and you'll see a place where you can summon a Waverider.
Ride the Waverider over to the entrance to Fontaine and take the elevator up. You'll be able to use a Statue of the Seven so you can teleport straight into Fontaine whenever you need to. You'll also gain the ability to turn the Traveler into a Hydro character.
You can also travel south to Sumeru if you haven't been there yet. Instead of going down the cliff, just turn around and you can head into a cave or explore the Sumeru deserts.
It's pretty awesome that new and returning players can go straight to these later areas if they haven't played in a while. I took a big break from Genshin and I was worried I'd have to progress through all the storylines I missed, but with this waypoint it's quick and easy to get to these new areas to farm materials or just explore at your leisure.
