How To Unlock The Dark Matter Camouflage

The Mystical camo is beautiful, but how do you unlock the Dark Matter Camouflage?

13th Nov 2020 14:13

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has followed in the footsteps of its predecessors with a stunning master camouflage that can only be equipped by players who are willing to throw hours of their lives to the wind and grind the game to its core. The Dark Matter camo is exclusive to Black Ops Cold War's finest players, akin to the Damascus from Modern Warfare. Alongside Gold and Diamond, Dark Matter will be flexed by the best all-around players on the game. Dare you be one?

Spoiler – prepare for a serious CoD grind

WHAT IS THE DARK MATTER CAMO?

There's only one way of unlocking the Dark Matter camo, and it requires you to surge through each and every camo that the game has to offer. By working through each gun, you can complete challenges that unlock camo sets, and upon completion of every camo from one gun, you will be rewarded with Gold. Having Gold on all of the weapons in one class set (e.g. Assault Rifles), you will get Diamond. After getting Diamond on every class set you will then receive the beautiful Dark Matter. The camo is a just reward for how long it takes to unlock, and seeing it on your Kill-Cam creates a sense of awe for the person who owns it. You will definitely be held in high regard if you sport the Dark Matter camo.

HOW TO UNLOCK THE DARK MATTER CAMO

You will unlock the Dark Matter Camo by getting gold on each weapon that you can use. That means all primary weapons (Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, Light Machine Guns, Tactical Rifles, and Snipers), and all secondary weapons (Pistols, Launchers, Shotguns, and Melee).

To achieve the gold camo you will have to unlock every camo for the weapon you are wielding. There are eight categories for each weapon, which require a series of challenges for you to unlock them. Ranging from longshot kills to headshots, these challenges can be somewhat tedious, giving the Dark Matter camo an essence of self-gratitude. Some weapons, such as the popular Krig-6, can be completed much quicker than others, for instance, the Cigma 2 launcher, which can leave you wanting to pull it out of the screen and bang your head against it.

It can take hours of gameplay to get just one gun gold, meaning with 28 guns in total, you could be in for days of playing time before you can sport the midnight aura. However, we believe we can chop this process up a little, meaning you can get through it a little quicker.

TIPS TO HELP YOU UNLOCK DARK MATTER QUICKLY

#1 – Spreading out your favourite weapons will keep you from losing momentum in the grind for the Dark Matter. Leave one of your favourite guns until the end.

#2 – Get used to using your secondary. Either having the melee or launchers equipped as your secondary will allow you to subconsciously begin to work through those camos as well as your primary weapon.

#3 – Play a suitable game mode. Objective game modes are best as you will need to complete challenges such as double kills and attack medals. Catching people running to an objective will help you complete these quickly. We would recommend playing a mixture of Ground War, for multi-kills and high kill games, and Hardcore Hardpoint, as you will be required to get 1 shot kills.

#4 – Start with the most difficult challenges. Challenges like ‘Overall kills’ will progress whilst you complete other challenges, so it is best not to focus your time in completing these first. Most challenges require you to get kills, so choosing an order that suits you best will help optimise the speed in which you complete them in.

#5 – Choose your attachments wisely. Some challenges like ‘hip-fire’ kills can be made easier by equipping the correct attachments. The 5mW laser and the Merc Foregrip increase hip-fire accuracy, which will help you massively when trying to complete this.

Following these five tips will help you quickly progress through these challenges.
