Should you give Erza's Ledger to Erza or Artem in Last Epoch?

Should you give Erza's Ledger to Erza or Artem in Last Epoch?

Will you stay faithful to Erza? Or betray him and side with Artem the Gambler? Well, you may want to consider what each has to offer first!

Erza's Ledger, often mistakenly referred to as Ezra's Ledger, is a critical component to two of Last Epoch's Side Quests. Two Last Epoch NPCs want Erza's Ledger, but there's only one book, so who should get it, Erza or Artem?

This primer reviews what happens when you give Erza's Ledger to Erza, what occurs when you pass it to Artem, and who you should ultimately deliver it to in the hack-and-slash action role-playing game by Eleventh Hour Games.

How to start the Erza's Ledger and Artem’s Offer Side Quests

Starting the Erza's Ledger Side Quest

To begin the Side Quests to obtain Erza's Ledger, you must first speak to Elder Erza in the Council Chambers during the Ruined Era. You'll discover this area naturally as you progress in Last Epoch's Campaign.

Chat with Elder Erza, and he'll ask that you retrieve his ledger from his study in Erza's Library. However, as soon as you accept this Side Quest, a new one will pop up over Artem the Gambler. Artem overheard your conversation with Elder Erza and has an idea.

Artem owes Erza, and if you bring Artem Erza's Ledger, he'll be able to erase his debts and get off scot-free. Artem argues that it's the right thing to do, and if you're successful, he'll compensate you appropriately.

Should you give Erza's Ledger to Erza or Artem?

After you venture off and collect Erza's Ledger from Erza's Library, you'll have to decide: do you give Erza's Ledger to Elder Erza or Artem the Gambler?

Well, not only is Erza the rightful owner of the ledger, but he offers the best reward, too. Returning Erza's Ledger to Erza will net you the Avarice Gloves, a pair of Unique Leather Gloves with the following stats:

The Avarice Gloves

  • +10 Armour
  • +5 - 10 Mana
  • 3% Element Damage Leeched as Health
  • 30 - 39% Increased Leech Rate
  • 13% Elemental Resistance

These gloves are an excellent piece of equipment for all Classes and Masteries, as the 3% Element Damage Leeched as Health and 30 - 39% Increased Leech Rate will constantly provide you with Health. These boosts are invaluable for beginners to Last Epoch and will carry you all the way through to the endgame activities. The 13% Elemental Resistance isn't too shabby, either, raising your survivability even further.

Artem, on the other hand, will give you the Gambler's Fallacy Amulet for your efforts. This Unique Ruby Amulet sports the following stats:

The Gambler's Fallacy Amulent

  • +5 - 25 Health
  • +100% Critical Strike Chance if you have not dealt a Critical Strike recently
  • 50% less Critical Strike Chance if you have dealt a Critical Strike recently
  • 10 - 15 Health Gain on Crit

This amulet isn't necessarily bad - it's just very niche. If you haven't landed a Critical Strike in the last four seconds, your next hit will be a Critical Strike guaranteed. Also, you'll get 10 - 15 Health when you land Crits.

The problem with the Gambler's Fallacy Amulet is the debuff that occurs after you land a Critical Strike. Losing 50% Critical Strike Chance if you've inflicted a Critical Strike in the last four seconds absolutely kills builds focused around consistently Critting. Select endgame builds can take advantage of this amulet's quirky traits, but most Last Epoch players won't get nearly as much value out of the Gambler's Fallacy Amulet as they would the Avarice Gloves.

Unfortunately, you can only complete one of these two Side Quests. For example, if you hand the ledger over to Artem, you can't give it to Erza, so claiming both rewards is impossible. On the bright side, neither item is irreplaceable, and if you're particularly fond of these rewards, you can get upgraded variants in the endgame called the Burning Avarice and the Soul Gambler's Fallacy.

Both the Avarice Gloves and the Gambler's Fallacy Amulet are worthy of their status as Uniques, but alas, you can only collect one per Character. If you want the most bang for your buck, give Erza's Ledger back to Elder Erza and collect the Avarice Gloves. If you have a specific build in mind that can capitalize on the Gambler's Fallacy Amulet, though, feel free to betray Erza and give the ledger to Artem the Gambler.
