Highlights:
- Fertiliser is mostly found on creatures throughout the world, either laying around them or obtainable by petting
- Seeds can be found in chests, by slaying hostile creatures, or by looting llamas
- Once you've got seeds, you'll need a garden plot in order to plant them
A garden is an essential component of any thriving village in LEGO Fortnite, and to create one, you'll need to get both seeds and fertiliser.
Seeds aren't very hard to get, but fertiliser is a bit more elusive, so here's a breakdown of how to get fertiliser and use it to plant seeds and grow crops in the survival crafting game from LEGO Group and Epic Games.
How do you get fertiliser?
Fertiliser comes from docile creatures like chickens, cows, and sheep. You can butcher these animals for meat, but if you approach them slowly and pet them, they'll provide you with resources like wool, milk, and even fertiliser.
You might occasionally find fertiliser lying around wild animals, but petting them seems to encourage the production of fertiliser. You can feed the friendly critters corn, pumpkins, raspberries, and the like to speed up their digestion, leading to more fertiliser.
Docile animals are relatively common in LEGO Fortnite, but if you don't want to travel to get fertiliser, you can also trap the creatures in a makeshift pen near your village and continuously pet them to gather the resource!
How to get seeds in LEGO Fortnite
Seeds are plentiful in LEGO Fortnite, and you'll come by a variety as you explore the world and slay hostile creatures and loot chests and loot llamas.
If you need soil, you can dig with a shovel and find seeds periodically, too. Alternatively, you can toss fruits and vegetables into a Grain Mill to grind the food down and remove the seeds from the crops.
Planting your seeds
Once you have some seeds and fertiliser, you can start planting the seeds and create a garden to serve as a source of food to power your adventures! To plant seeds, you need a garden plot, which is craftable with two soil and a single fertiliser.
To make it, simply dig anywhere with a shovel to get soil, then combine it with fertiliser to create garden plots.
Each garden plot can support one type of seed, so if you have different kinds, you'll need to plop down at least a handful of plots. You can toss a stack of the same seed into one garden plot, and every time you harvest that plot, a new seed will automatically begin growing until there are no seeds left.
- Seeds take some time to mature, but once they're ripe, you'll get a prompt to collect the produce when you approach it
- Conveniently, farming in LEGO Fortnite doesn't require much maintenance, as you don't need to water your crops or anything like that - just plant the seeds and pick the fruits and vegetables when they're ready!
While you can eat your raw crops fresh from the garden, you can also insert them into a Grill, Juicer, or Oven to cook up high-quality foods and drinks.
You won't make it in Survival without a substantial supply of food to restore your health and reduce hunger. Collect fertiliser and soil to create garden plots, then plant seeds to cultivate the garden and grow nutritious fruits and vegetables!
