  • Making someone a key holder is great for playing co-op and working together on a shared world

LEGO Fortnite allows you to share your creations with your friends in multiple ways, including allowing them to freely visit your worlds by making them a key holder.

Key holders can do everything that a world's creator can do in the game, from exploring to gathering resources and even building villages.

How to make someone a key holder

The steps to giving someone a key to your world are very simple. First, you'll need to load into your world and invite your friend to play with you. Then, you need to:

  • Open your map and scroll across to the Players tab
  • Move down to the friend you want to give a key to
  • Press X on PlayStation, or A on Xbox to give them a key

You'll see the option at the bottom of the screen telling you which button to press, and how many keys you have left. You can give out a maximum of seven keys per world. Something to note, there have been reports of bugs caused by giving out keys while the world owner is not the party leader.

To avoid this, make sure you are the party leader when giving out keys. This should prevent any issues cropping up, but if the issue persists, you might just need to restart the game.

What can key holders do?

The primary purpose of giving out keys is to allow other players to play in your world while you are not there. This means they can explore your world and build new things, they can even contribute to your Village Rating while you are away.

Essentially, keyholders can do everything they would normally do in your world, but you don't need to be there to allow it to happen. This is a great way to work on a shared world if that is what you are looking for.

That said, you might find you no longer want a certain player to have free reign of your world. If that is the case, you can go back to the Players menu and revoke their key.

All key holders will appear in the Players menu even when they are not online, so you don't need to endure the awkwardness of removing their key in front of them.

That is it for making keyholders and giving other players access to your worlds. For more info, head to our Fortnite homepage where we have LEGO guides like how to make a glider, how to find a cave, where to find Brightcore, and the best charms and trinkets.
