How to parry & block in Lords of the Fallen
If you're looking to parry or block in Lords of the Fallen but aren't sure how, we explain everything you need to know about how to perform the manoeuvre.
Parrying and blocking can be daunting in Lords of the Fallen, but it is also an incredibly useful tactic to use when you are fighting enemies and bosses - so if you want to know how to perform the actions in the game, make sure to keep reading for more information.
Whilst games like Elden Ring have a delay on parrying with its animation, Lords of the Fallen uses a similar block and parry method to that in Lies of P, wherein you just have to hold your weapon or shield up in time and hit the parry window.
If you aren’t confident in your dodging abilities, though, blocking is a great way to sustain yourself in a fight and ensure your survivability - so here is how you can parry and block in Lords of the Fallen.

How to parry in Lords of the Fallen
To parry in Lords of the Fallen, you'll need to press LB / L1 when using a controller, or Shift on keyboard as the attack is going to come down on you.
Like most Soulslike games, there is a very short window during the enemy’s attack that you can parry their attack and not take any damage at all. If you are successful, however, you can then follow up with an RB / R1 / right click grievous strike if they are already staggered and their poise is depleted.
Alternatively, you can kick them using LB + RB or Shift + left click, to break their posture further.
Parries are incredibly useful in Lords of the Fallen as they stop you from taking significant wither damage, and deliver high posture damage to the enemy. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but once you’ve got it, it can really aid you through the game.
How to block in Lords of the Fallen
Blocking is similar to parrying, in that you use LB / L1 or hold Shift to block. Rather than a quick press of the button, though, you can hold it down to put your weapon or shield up. However, blocking does still cause you to take a little bit of damage, and depending on how healthy you are, this can feel like a significant portion of damage taken.
If you can, dodging or parrying is better, but sometimes it can be hard to learn how to time the parry correctly, and you block instead.
That’s everything you need to know about blocking and parrying in Lords of the Fallen.
