If you’ve been playing Lords of the Fallen for a little while, chances are that you’ve come across Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal. She is the first proper boss in the game, and she can serve as a strong challenge right out of the gate. If you’re struggling to take her down, here are some tips that you can use to fight her.
Lords of the Fallen is full of difficult bosses and mechanics, and some of them are easier depending on what class you use, too. Here is everything you need to know about how to fight Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal in Lords of the Fallen.
Tips for beating Pieta in Lords of the Fallen
Pieta has incredible range in her attacks in Lords of the Fallen, which can make it difficult to counter her. She has a second phase, where she is suddenly a lot more agile than before. Having a summon for this fight, whether it be a Lampbearer or The Iron Wayfarer, is incredibly useful for this fight, but we understand if you want to try and do it solo.
This fight is a test of patience, slow and steady will win this race. Some of her attacks sweep across the entire arena, so you have to be careful to avoid them and also make sure that you wait until the full attack is finished.
- Stay close to her. If you are far away from her it is unlikely that you’ll be able to block, parry or dodge away from her extended reach with her sword. She has multiple swing combos that you can parry or block and this will be more beneficial than dodging
- Using Fire is a good idea here. Whether you use Pyric Cultist spells or you use Minor Fire Salts to imbue your weapon with fire, both are good options and will do more damage to her. Avoid using Radiance damage as she has pretty high resistance to it
- Be patient through the fight. It will benefit you in the long run, as she is very agile during the second phase, making it a bit harder to get hits in
- Soulflay allows you to do damage to her soul and will do Wither damage to her. However, this also inflicts you with some Wither damage when you use it

Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal phase one
In phase one, she spends most of the fight swinging her sword in multiple combos. She has a move where she flies down the middle of the arena and rains down swords, and you want to make sure you’re at the side for this. Overall, phase one is the easiest phase to get combo hits in, as you won’t quite get the same opportunities to do so in phase two.
- Two-slash combo: These attacks are the best time to parry and block her attacks. If you parry successfully, you can do increased damage when she is staggered
- Beam of Light: She holds her sword up and shoots a beam of light from her weapon. Your best option with this is to dodge to the side
- AoE light attack: She will jump and crash into the ground, causing a light AoE on the ground. Surprisingly, this is one of the best times to attack her with charged attacks in an attempt to stagger her
- A tracking bolt of light: This attack will send a bolt of light across the ground that tracks your movement. You can dodge this attack
- Dropping swords: She will fly down the middle of the arena and rain swords across the middle of the arena. Simply stand on one of the sides to avoid this
Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal phase two
In phase two, she has wings and is a lot more agile.
- Summons phantoms: There are a couple of variations to this. Some will go to the left and right and rain swords down on those strips of land. Alternatively, her summons will mimic her attacks and crash the sword into the ground to create an AoE. To combat these attacks, dodge rather than try to block or parry
- Dropping swords: She will do this attack again during phase two. Make sure you keep an eye on where she is dropping the swords and dodge to the side of them
- Homing bolts: Pieta throws two light bolts into the ground, and they will follow you across the ground. Dodge to the side for these
Overall, to combat her in this phase, you still want to stay close to her. This can be difficult with how much she flies around, so make sure to utilise your sprint button.
