Crafting is a big thing in space apparently, but to do so you're going to want to first know how to scrap items in Marauders. You can of course find every crafting material out in the expansive outer space that Marauders occupies, but scrapping your unwanted loot is a great fast track to avoid the unpredictability of item drops. So, if you're wanting to know how to scrap items in Marauders, make sure to carry on reading.

Marauders How To Scrap Items

Marauders How To Scrap Items

The first thing you'll need to know before you start scrapping all of your gear is which items are actually able to be scrapped. Generally, as a rule of thumb, anything that is classed as 'gear' can be scrapped, for example guns, armour, and helmets. On the other hand, things like ammo, healing items, and food cannot be turned into scrap, and strangely gun attachments cannot either.

Once you've accumulated some items, and decided what you want to depart with, the scrapping process can begin. Thankfully it is very easy to actually scrap your items, as all you need to do is head over to the crafting tab, and drag whatever item you want to scrap over to the recycling icon in the middle.

When you're holding whatever item you want to scrap over the recycling button, you will be given a list of the potential items you will get back after scrapping, with a percentage chance assigned to each one. The Blowtorch for example has a 40% chance for Metal Scrap, 35% for Metal Sheet, and 25% for Junk Scrap. Generally, the better the item the lower the chance for Junk Scrap, and a wider range of options become available.

You do have the potential to get multiple items back from scrapping an item, but it very much depends on the type of item, how large it is, and also luck with the percentages. Additionally, even if something has a low percentage chance to gain a specific scrap item, you can still get it, it will just be relatively much rarer.

After you've scrapped an item, the results will be deposited into a small container underneath the recycling icon, which you can use to distribute neatly into your gear stash. If this container is filled up then you unfortunately won't be able to scrap any more items until it is clear once again - or at least clear enough to receive the items you're trying to create.

Marauders Scrapping Vs Selling

Marauders How To Scrap Items Scrapping vs Selling

The question of whether to scrap or sell an item is a tough one, but it all depends on what you're in need for, and what the outcome of the scrap will be. You will always need money in Marauders, so turning that down can be quite a tricky endeavour, but it is also easy to underestimate the value of crafts in the game.

Crafts give you easy access to a lot of useful items, gear, and even Marauders ships that you cannot buy otherwise, but you will always need items to create them, and those items can be quite hard to come by.

In Marauders, scrapping vs selling isn't a question that has the same answer every time. However, generally it is a better idea to scrap, as there are far more ways to gain money elsewhere, whereas crafting items can become quite hard to get your hands on, especially in the quantity that you need.

So, that rounds off this guide of how to scrap items in Marauders, giving you further details about when you should scrap or sell your loot. If you're looking for an efficient way to make money and get high tier gear, don't miss our Marauders Capital Ship farm guide for all the steps.
