Can you slide cancel in Modern Warfare 3?
Knowing whether you can slide cancel in Modern Warfare 3 is key to maximising your multiplayer performance, and we've got the answers that you're looking for.
Players have been begging Activision to bring back the slide cancel movement tech in Modern Warfare 3, as its removal in MW2 caused a big uproar in the community.
Slide cancelling allows players to move around the map as quickly as possible and likely rack up kills in the process. It is a controversial feature in parts of the game's community, but in general, it is widely loved and a much-appreciated skill to learn.
Can you slide cancel in MW3?
Thankfully, you can slide cancel in Modern Warfare 3, so expect the movement and traversal across each of the maps to be significantly more fast-paced than MW2.
It's also worth noting that the new Perk system offers clothing like the Tactical Pads which improve your slide and allow for full ADS.
How to slide cancel
All you need to do to slide cancel in MW3 is start a tactical sprint, press your assigned crouch button to slide, then quickly jump to 'cancel' the slide and soar forward in the air.
It can take a couple of tries to get the hang of the timing, but once you've got it nailed down you'll be speeding around the map with ease. You'll also want to try and nail down how quickly you can switch to firing your weapon too, as that will help you capitalise on the daze that your enemies will likely be put in.
You won't be able to slide cancel infinitely though, as you'll need to wait for your tactical sprint to regenerate to perform it again.
Slide cancel changes in Modern Warfare 3
Before anyone panics, slide-cancelling in MW3 is not the same as MW2019 and is far more balanced in its new form.
Unlike MW2019, slide cancelling will not reset your tactical sprint, so players won't be forced to repeat the action over and over again like in the past.
Instead, as revealed by Raven Software, the new version is more of a tool used to "juke shots" and "outplay" your foes in gunfights.
In my opinion, this new version of slide cancelling will be much healthier than MW2019, as it will be more of a situational tool, rather than a must-use mechanic for advanced movement.
Slide-cancelling is brilliant, but it's even better when you look incredible while doing it. That's exactly why you need to obtain the Lockpick and Zombie Ghost Operators ahead of MW3's launch, and we've got the guides to help you do exactly that.
