Renowned leaker/dataminer Lucas7yoshi sank countless hours into compiling a list of the most used skins in Fortnite. The process involved Lucas7yoshi analysing over 558,500 players to figure out the most used cosmetic items in the game. Some of the results may be expected, while others will shock you. Did your favourite skin make the list? Let’s find out.
15. Seeker
Just barely sneaking into the top 15, we have Seeker. Seeker is Chapter 2 - Season 4’s Starter Pack skin. For just £3.29/$4, players can purchase Seeker along with a pickaxe, back bling, and 600 V-Bucks. These Starter Packs are great value, so it’s no wonder Seeker has become one of the most popular skins in the game.
14. Venom
The first of many Marvel skins on this list. Spider-Man’s Archnemesis, Venom, has quickly become one of the most popular skins in all of Fortnite. This skin released just a couple of weeks ago, and it’s already number 14 on the list. Venom is one of the largest models in the game and comes with selectable styles.
13. Siren
Similar to other skins like Reaper, Siren was designed to resemble a famous movie icon. Siren shares an extreme likeness to Elle Driver from the Kill Bill series.
Siren’s popularity is largely related to Fortnite pro, Benjy “benjyfishy” Fish. Siren is benjyfishy’s skin of choice. As is the case with sports and other avenues of entertainment, fans want to look and feel like their heroes. So much so, that a benjyfishy Locker Bundle was released into the Item Shop. Players can purchase Siren along with benjyfishy’s other favourite cosmetics all in one bundle.
12. Mogul Master (CAN)
Mogul Master (CAN) shares the same story as Siren. Mogul Master (CAN) is the “official” skin of Fortnite streamer, Nicholas "NickEh30" Amyoony. Mogul Master (CAN) was recently re-released in the NickEh30 Locker Bundle.
11. Thor
Thor was certainly number one on this list at the start of Chapter 2 - Season 4. Every match would have at least ten Thor skins patrolling about. Thor was unlocked at level 1 of the Chapter 2 - Season 4 Battle Pass. This means pretty much everyone had him. As time’s gone on, players have begun to unlock the rest of the Marvel cast. With that, Thor’s usage rate has dropped off a bit.
10. Crystal
Crystal is one of the oldest skins on this list, releasing in August of 2019. Crystal’s popularity has stood the test of time for a few reasons. For one, she is priced at just 800 V-Bucks. These Uncommon rarity skins are usually pretty bland and boring. However, Crystal is unique and unlike any other skin in the game. Finally, Crystal uses everyone’s favourite character model, Headhunter. For these reasons, it’s no surprise Crystal made it into the top ten most popular Fortnite skins.
9. Groot
At number nine, we have Groot. Groot, the extraterrestrial, sentient tree-like creature from Guardians of the Galaxy, was one of Chapter 2 - Season 4’s most anticipated skins. Not only is Groot a fan-favourite, but completing Groot-specific challenges will unlock Baby Groot and Rocket Raccoon. Groot is the only skin able to use Rocket Raccoon as a back bling.
8. Storm
Storm, goddess of the elements. Out of the 558,500 players analysed, over 1.7% of them had Storm equipped. This comes out to almost two players per game donning the X-Men hero.
7. Wolverine
Wolverine is perhaps the most iconic Marvel character of all. With six different selectable styles available, it’s no surprise the claw-wielding mutant makes an appearance on this list.
6. Doctor Doom
Doctor Doom is one of the few true villains to appear in Chapter 2 - Season 4. Along with being a skin, Doctor Doom has his own point of interest (POI), Doom’s Domain. Sometimes it’s nice to switch things up and play the villain role. This could explain Doctor Doom’s surging popularity.
5. Aura
The top five — this is where we get into the truly popular skins. Aura stands out on this list. Surrounded by Marvel legends, this little Uncommon rarity skin prevails. So why is Aura so popular?
Aura is a fan-made skin based on a concept from the Reddit user u/fantasyfull. Aura was an instant hit following its release in May of 2019. The skin quickly grew a reputation as THE “sweat” skin. If you saw an Aura in your match, they were probably a top-tier player. The community caught on, and soon Aura was one of the most desired skins in the whole game.
To this day, Aura remains as the go-to skin for skilled players that prefer less flashy skins.
4. Mystique
Not only is Mystique a nice skin on its own, but Mystique also comes with the Shapeshifter emote. This emote allows players to turn into the last enemy they killed. This means that players using this skin theoretically have access to literally every skin in the entire game. This perk easily solidifies Mystique in the upper echelon of popularity.
3. Jennifer Walters
Jennifer Walters is sort of an anomaly on this list. For those that don’t know, Jennifer Walters is She-Hulk’s alter ego. We aren’t sure exactly what it is about Jennifer Walters that allures players to use her so heavily. Is it because she’s unlocked at just level 22 of the Battle Pass? Or maybe it’s her classy lawyer outfit? Regardless, Jennifer Walters beat out some tough competition on her way to number three on the list of most used Fortnite skins.
2. Tony Stark
The one and only Iron Man, Tony Stark, flies into the number two spot. Based on Lucas7yoshi’s data, about 6.43% of players use Tony Stark. In a match with 100 players, six of them on average will be using the leader of The Avengers. This is impressive considering Tony Stark is the final skin in the Chapter 2 - Season 4 Battle Pass.
1. Default
Holding down the number one spot is no other than the Default skin. While it’s not technically one individual skin, it felt wrong to leave the OG skin off the list. There are tons of reasons to rock the Default skin. Some players like to hide their skills and confuse their enemies, while others may simply not own any skins. Either way, the Default skin is the most used skin in all of Fortnite.
