While everyone is jumping into Modern Warfare 2’s exhilarating multiplayer, it’s important not to forget there’s an explosive single-player campaign to sink your teeth into. With 16 missions of high-octane action, many who jump straight into the multiplayer may not want to miss out on one of the game’s key components that seem to be resonating with players who have already finished it.

Being a long-time Call of Duty player, some players may want a bit of an extra challenge when it comes to Modern Warfare 2 and its campaign. Others who are new to the series may want something a little bit simpler. No matter what your preference, Modern Warfare 2 has a variety of options to tailor the experience to you. Let’s dig into the various difficulty options available in Modern Warfare 2.

What Are The Difficulty Options For The MW2 Campaign?

The first time you boot up the campaign, you’ll be presented with four different options of difficulty to choose from. Each does a good job of explaining what the experience of playing the Modern Warfare 2 campaign will be like, offering everyone an opportunity to check out the rollercoaster thrill ride.

Here are the initial difficulty options available for the Modern Warfare 2 campaign:

  • Recruit: For players new to Call of Duty.
  • Regular: Your abilities in combat will be tested.
  • Hardened: Your skills will be strained.
  • Veteran: You will not survive.

You may also notice that there’s a fifth difficulty option that is locked known as Realism. This offers the definitive experience for hardcore Modern Warfare 2 players and isn’t for the faint of heart. To unlock it, you will need to complete the campaign on any other difficulty first. If you’re wondering what Realism mode entails, here’s the official description:

  • Realism: Veteran with limited HUD.

With a wide range of options, there’s a huge amount of variety to cater to every type of Call of Duty player out there. With such painstaking effort poured into the campaign, it would be a shame for anyone to miss out, but thankfully, Modern Warfare 2 has something for everyone to sink their teeth into.
