MW2 Ground War Explained
Ground War is the biggest mode in the game, it plays almost more like Battlefield than Call of Duty. There are two teams of up to 32 players facing off to control several points on a large map. Controlling points and getting kills gains points for your team, the first team to reach 250 kills wins. Each team starts at either end of the map, working their way toward the middle and taking over objective points until they meet and begin fighting over them.
You have a couple of options for how you can get around the map. You start out on foot, but you will quickly find several vehicles to use, like ATVs, jeeps, and tanks. Tanks are particularly useful in this mode, so be sure to grab one when you can. There are also helicopters in this mode, meaning you can attack from the sky as well. Other than that, the game plays like regular Call of Duty. You can use all your loadouts and killstreaks as you would expect.

MW2 Ground War: Tips For Winning
Being such a massive game mode, there isn't a whole lot you can do as one player to guarantee a win. However, there are plenty of things you can do to help your team. First and foremost, use vehicles. Tanks and helicopters are powerful tools, they can massively swing the momentum of a match. Rolling into a capture point in a tank can take the place over single-handedly if there is no armoured resistance.
Something to be aware of is the size of the map. These maps are huge by Call of Duty standards, and they play differently than maps in other modes. You need a different level of awareness for these maps, as enemies can come at you from angles you wouldn't expect. Keep your head on a swivel or you'll find yourself outmaneuvered.
Range matters a lot in Ground War. Medium-range weapons like your standard assault rifles are generally effective in regular multiplayer modes, but quite often these weapons will not be as effective in Ground War. Sniper rifles shine a lot more here, with the much greater ranges you can encounter. Likewise, SMGs are great for closer encounters, such as taking over capture points. Success and failure in Ground War are often determined by how well you equip yourself for the situations you will encounter.
