How to fix MW2 stuck on installing
Eager to jump into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 but unable to due to a loading bug? Here's exactly how to fix it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 opened its doors to the campaign via early access last week, and it’s been a relatively smooth experience for fans jumping in.
It appears a recent update is preventing some players to take advantage of this feature, essentially locking them out of MW2 with a stuck on installing bug. It’s an incredibly annoying issue, but one which thankfully has a relatively simple solution to allow you access back into the game.

How to fix MW2 stuck on installing
The release of the most recent patch has hit various players with error messages. This has occurred in the form of a locked game title or players attempting to hop into the campaign, and primarily seems to be affecting PS5 owners.
While this isn’t ideal, developer Infinity Ward has laid out the steps for a temporary workaround until a further update can rectify the issue.
- Hit the settings button to open up the menu on the right-hand side.
- Once this has been done, open up another menu in the settings such as quick settings.
- Close all of the settings menus, and you should now be enabled to access Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
As mentioned, this isn’t an ideal situation, but luckily Infinity Ward has come out publicly to confirm there is an issue and installed a temporary workaround for the time being.
There is no confirmed status of when a fix will be implemented, but in the meantime, this strategy should allow you access to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
