How to fix the vault edition not working or showing up in MW2
Spent the extra cash on getting the Vault Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but it's not working? Here are all the workarounds to retrieve your extra items.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is expensive enough as it is, but a further Vault Edition has also launched with extra goodies for a bit more money. Unfortunately, despite the promise of extra rewards, some players are reporting that their additional benefits haven’t been added to the game, even after dropping their hard-earned cash.
It’s an annoying bug, but it seems to be a temporary issue with a few workarounds, here are a few ways to do so:
How to fix the error
As with many of the current bugs plaguing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, there’s more than one fix for the Vault Edition not working. Here is every workaround we have found so far:
Restore Licences On PlayStation
The one definitive fix for PlayStation has actually been confirmed by Infinity Ward themselves. It appears players will need to restore their game licence if they’re missing the Oni Operator or Vault Edition items. To do so, simply follow these steps:
- Go to your System Settings on PlayStation.
- Enter Users and Accounts.
- Enter Other.
- Go to Restore Licences.
This only appears to be a workaround for PlayStation users at present. If you’re playing on another platform, we have a few more workarounds.

Reboot MW2 And Your System
It may seem obvious, but many have confirmed their success by simply rebooting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and even switching their system on and off again. By doing so, the game will be forced to re-establish a connection with the servers and possibly nudge your missing items to your account.
Don’t Use The New Zealand Hack
If you’re in a part of the world where Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 hasn’t launched officially yet and have changed your timezone to New Zealand for early access - this could be the problem. Since the servers in your region may not be live yet, your items will not be dropped into your account. The solution is to revert to your timezone and await the official launch.
Hopefully, one of these solutions has rectified the Vault Edition not working in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. If you’re still running into an issue, it may be worthwhile waiting a few days for the launch to calm down and for servers to be less populated. Alternatively, Activision Support is extremely helpful for any issues such as these.
