The prospect of saving Soap in the MW3 campaign is something that many players will be desperate to do, as the mohawked icon has been one of the series' longest-standing favourites.

Despite powering through multiple Call of Duty campaigns with Task Force 141 and facing multiple legendary foes, this showdown with Makarov might just be his last. Continue reading to find out if this is the last outing for MacTavish, as we've got everything you need to know if you're desperate to save him in the game below.

Is it possible to save Soap in MW3?

Soap's death in MW3

Unfortunately, there's no way to save Soap in the MW3 campaign, and he will always fall at the hands of Makarov to save Captain Price. This is a fixed story moment, and no decisions that you take during the campaign prior to this have any effect on the outcome.

Furthermore, while it might be tempting to try, you can't take out Makarov at any point during the campaign, as you will instead be met with a game over screen.

While Call of Duty games have brought some characters back from the dead before, Soap's demise appears to be quite conclusive - and perhaps a callback to the original Ghost's death in 2009.

At least with this, you'll know that there's nothing you can do - but once you've completed the campaign make sure to check out our MW3 homepage for more tips and tricks. You can also check out our explanation of the ending here, and find out how to unlock all of the Mastery Camos in multiplayer.
