Best Kar98k MW3 loadout, attachments, class & perks
The Kar98k is a classic weapon from Call of Duty's history, and it's back in Modern Warfare 3. Here's the best loadout you can use to absolutely dominate multiplayer lobbies right now.
The Kar98k is back in Call of Duty, and it’s quickly become one of Modern Warfare 3’s most popular weapons. Sitting in the Marksman Rifle category, this classic gun is more than capable of picking off enemies from afar with one-shot kills - if you equip it with the right attachments, that is.
Season 4 Reloaded saw the Kar98k take a significant nerf, but that hasn’t stopped it from being an absolute powerhouse. Below, I’ve listed my favourite attachments to adorn this weapon, alongside some recommendations for the rest of the loadout.
Best attachments
- Muzzle: Silentium 792
- Barrel: Präzisionsgewehr 762 Long Barrel
- Unerbarrel: SL Skeletal Vertical Grip
- Optic: Corio Eaglesye 2.5x
- Slings: Target Sling
The Kar98k has best-in-class damage output for a Marksman Rifle, so our aim here is to make the weapon as nimble as possible.
The above combination of attachments work together to slightly increase the damage output, while also giving a huge boost to the effective range. As such, it's rare you’ll ever see a hit marker with this loadout equipped.
Hitting headshots shouldn’t be a bother, either. The 2.5x scope is the perfect middle-ground for most multiplayer maps in Modern Warfare 3, allowing you to pick off heads at a medium distance while staying aware of your close-quarter surroundings.
Last up, equipping the Target Sling means you’re able to run and gun with the weapon a bit. There’s no need to camp in one spot, as you should be able to whip out the rifle at a moment's notice to go in for a cheeky quick scope.
Loadout equipment and perks
Perks
- Gloves: Marksman
- Boots: Covert Sneakers
- Gear: Blacklight Flashlight
- Vest: Infantry
Equipment
- Lethal: Flashbang
- Tactical: Proximity Mine
- Field Upgrade: Munitions Box
Choosing the Marksman Gloves for this loadout is a no-brainer, as it will reduce the amount of sway you experience when aiming down sights. This should make picking off headshots that little bit easier.
I’m personally a huge fan of using the Covert Sneakers with any loadout, but they fit the Kar98k setup perfectly. Especially since this loadout is designed to be manoeuvrable, not having enemies hear you reposition is vital. I’ve lost track of the amount of kills I’ve managed to earn because my opponents simply didn’t know I was close by.
Following on from this, having the Blacklight Flashlight is excellent for tailing nearby enemies, and pairs nicely with the Covert Sneakers.
Your mileage may vary, but I’m enjoying using a combination of the Flashbang and Proximity Mines, as they’re helping me pick my way through the current Weekly Challenges. Feel free to choose a combination that suits you better, though.
Lastly, I find that the Munitions Box is vital for keeping me resupplied on longer lives. The Kar98k only has 30 bullets to work with, so you’ll need to keep yourself topped up if you end up staying alive for a decent amount of time.
How to unlock the Kar98k
The Kar98k is unlocked by reaching the end of Sector 5 in the Season 4 Battle Pass. That’s 15 BP Tokens you’ll need to spend to get there.
It took me around three to four hours of gameplay before I earned that many BP Tokens. Try whacking on a Double XP token and grinding out the Small Map Mosh Pit playlist, and you should get there in no time.
