All zombie types in MW3, including their strengths & weaknesses
In this guide, we talk about all zombie types in MW3 while also going over their biggest strengths and weaknesses to make you well-prepared for the battle.
While Modern Warfare 3 takes a different approach to Zombies game mode compared to its predecessors, it features some of the same old zombies that we've seen before with subtle nuances to make them feel fresh and fit in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode's enormous open world.
The game features a decent variety of zombies who can easily overwhelm you with sheer numbers or their unique traits, attacks, and abilities.
That is why you must know about all zombie types in Modern Warfare 3, including their strengths and weaknesses, to ensure you are prepared for them.
All zombie types in MW3
Modern Warfare 3 features around eight types of Zombies. These are:
- Regular Zombies
- armoured Zombies
- Hellhound
- Mangler
- Crawler
- Disciple
- Mimic
- Mega Abomination
At the start of the game, you will be fighting the Regular Zombies. As time passes and you take on more heat, the rest will start to spawn. The only exceptions are a few like the Mimic, who shows himself when you interact with a Mimic Aether Chest, and the Crawlers, who often gather in infestations.
Regular Zombies strengths & weaknesses
When it comes to Regular Zombies, their only strength is their high number and endless random spawn. They can easily overwhelm you in terms of numbers and can corner you in tight areas.
Regarding their weakness, their defence and HP are low., so headshots work well on them. One or two hits, depending on the weapon, can easily take them out.
armoured Zombies strengths & weaknesses
The armoured Zombies are a nuanced version of Regular Zombies with armour that protects them from most of your regular hits. Their biggest strength is their defensive armour.
Albeit similar to any other zombie in the game, they are weak to sustained fire and critical hits. To take out an armoured Zombie, perform multiple headshots, use lethal equipment, or keep firing at them until they are dead.
Hellhound strengths & weaknesses
Whether a zombie movie or game, it is incomplete without zombified dogs. That's essentially what Hellhounds are: aggressive and agile zombie dogs who can close gaps quickly and can deal decent damage.
Here's a look at some of their biggest strengths:
- Aggressiveness
- Fast movement
- Attack you in packs
- Inflict decent damage
- Explode when they die as a last resort to take you out
When it comes to Hellhounds' weakness, they have low HP and are easy to take out with precision hits.
Manglers strengths & weaknesses
The Manglers are among the most powerful zombies you will encounter while playing Modern Warfare 3's Zombies game mode. These are some of their biggest strengths:
- High defense
- Range attacks
- High damage
- Few weak points
- Mobility
When it comes to the Manglers' weaknesses, they have two weak spots where you can shoot to deal massive damage. These are their hand canon and head.
Apart from that, if you are far away, they cannot attack you as their attacks have a range limit. Use a ranged weapon to attack their weak spots to take them out quickly.
Crawler strengths & weaknesses
The Crawler, aka Nest Crawler, are your typical Resident Evil Crawlers you can find mostly in nests, as their name suggests. Their strengths are small body size, fast movement, and decent damage.
However, their biggest weakness is their low HP and armour, making them easy to take out targets.
Disciple strengths & weaknesses
The Disciple is yet another powerful zombie in Modern Warfare 3 that has the following strengths:
- Summon zombies
- Buff nearby zombies
- Steal health for self-healing
- Blending in hordes
As for weaknesses, they highly depend on their summons and the health drain ability and lack any actual high damage-dealing attack. You can easily take them out with sustained fire and can interrupt their health steal attack by dealing damage to their arms.
Mimic strengths & weaknesses
As the name suggests, Mimics are zombies that masquerade themselves as interactable objects to catch you off-guard and deal damage using their tentacles and sharp fangs. The Mimic's strengths are its ability to blend in the environment, surprise attacks, inflict serious damage, and decent defense.
When it comes to the Mimic's weakness, it's ranged attack. As they lack any ranged attacks themselves, you can easily maintain distance and take them out.
Mega Abomination's strengths & weaknesses
Mega Abominations are sort of the main bosses of Modern Warfare 3's Zombies game mode whom you can encounter in high-threat zones and when you are a few minutes into the match. They are massive, three-headed creatures that have many strengths and very few weaknesses.
Some of their biggest strengths are:
- High damage
- Ranged attacks
- Melee attacks
- Ability to summon hordes
- Fast movement
- Aggressiveness
- High armour and HP pool
When it comes to their weakness, they are big and are an easy target. They can also be cornered in most of the parts of the map and can be lured into traps and such things. You can also use ranged attacks on them to avoid risking close combat.
