Amazon's first foray into massively multiplayer online gaming will be getting a console port soon, as New World Aeternum is set to debut on consoles.

New World launched on PC back in 2021 and since then has seen some big updates and an expansion. Aeternum is set to be an expanded version of the game for both console and PC, coming later this year, so learn all about it below.

What is New World: Aeternum?

New World Aeternum is an enhanced version of the New World MMORPG that will release for PC and consoles.

Mage in New World Aeternum

The console version will be brought up to par with all the previous updates and the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion from the PC version.

In addition to this, all versions will gain brand-new content, such as a large-scale PvP zone, a new 10-player raid, end-game solo content, a reworked levelling experience, new archetypes, revamped dialogue, and much more. Expect more news on that soon.

New World Aeternum release date & platforms

It's set to launch on October 15, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

If you've played on PC and have already purchased the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion, you'll receive all the Aeternum content for free, otherwise you'll need to buy it once it releases.

If you already have the New World base game on PC and plan on playing Aeternum, I would recommend purchasing the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion now, as it seems to be cheaper overall than purchasing the Aeternum version.

Is there crossplay?

various activities in New World Aeternum

It's been confirmed that New World Aeternum will feature crossplay between PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S

Aeternum has also been designed specifically for consoles, but it has complete feature parity for PC, meaning the only major differences between the versions are platform-specific enhancements, such as alterations to make the game easier with controller.

During a Q&A with the developers, however, it was confirmed that there is no crossplay between PC and console versions of the game.
