New World Petrified Wood Explained
Petrified Wood is a resource that is found by harvesting trees. Despite being uncommon in rarity, it is extremely difficult to find, with many players spending considerable time harvesting trees in order to find a single piece. It is used to craft a variety of enchanted weapons and armour, so it is something that you should be looking to acquire throughout your playthrough.
You can improve your chances of finding Petrified Wood by improving your character's Logging trade skill, as well as using Logging Luck Charms on your weapons and armour, a recommended one is the Starmetal Lumberjack Charm that can be placed on an Iron Logging Axe.
Where To Find Petrified Wood
Petrified Wood can be found by harvesting a variety of trees. Some require the player to be a certain level before they can be harvested using an Axe. Here are all of the trees that can give Petrified Wood.
- Young Tree (Tiny, Small, Medium, Large)
- Mature Tree (Large, Huge)
- Tree Stump (Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, Huge)
- Cactus (Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, Huge)

The drop rate for Petrified Wood seems to be incredibly low right now, with it being said to be around 1%, meaning that you could be farming for hours and not find a single piece of Petrified Wood, or you could get lucky and find it in minutes.

Venerable Recurve Bow
The Venerable Recurve is a Bow that requires 20 Timber, 15 Linen, 5 Coarse Leather, 4 Steel Ingots, and 4 Petrified Wood. It requires the player to have Engineering Tier 2, and be at Engineering Level 27, as well as a Territory Standing of 96.
Sparklight
Sparklight is a Staff that requires 20 Fire Mote, 15 Timber, 5 Iron Ingots, 4 Silver Ingots, and 4 Petrified Wood. This requires Alchemy Tier 2, and Arcana Level 26, alongside a Territory Standing of 96.
Adept Cryomancer's Gauntlet
Adept Cryomancer's Gauntlet requires 20 Water Mote, 15 Coarse Leather, 5 Iron Ingots, 4 Silver Ingots, and 4 Petrified Branches. The Gauntlet requires Alchemy Tier 2, and Arcana Level 27, as well as a Territory Standing of 96.
Breach Hunter's Fire Staff
Breach Hunter's Fire Staff requires 20 Fire Wisp, 15 Timer, 5 Iron Ingots, 4 Gold Ingots, 4 Whisperwood, and 2 Petrified Wood. The Staff also requires Alchemy Tier 3, Arcana Level 81, and a Territory Standing of 100.
Arctic Dusk
Finally is Arctic Dusk, another Gauntlet, that requires 20 Water Wisp, 15 Rugged Leather, 5 Iron Ingots, 4 Gold Ingots, 4 Whisperwood, and 2 Petrified Wood. Arctic Dusk also requires Alchemy Tier 3, Arcana Level 82, and a Territory Standing of 100.
New World Petrified Wood: Unable To Harvest
There have been reports that some players have been experiencing issues when it comes to harvesting Petrified Wood, with them simply being unable to do so. For an uncommon item, it shouldn't be as rare as it is, which could indicate some kind of issue, or it simply needs balancing in an update. But, if you've spent hours in the forest and still don't have a single piece of Petrified Wood, this could be why.
