The next iteration in the NFS franchise, Need For Speed Unbound, was finally officially announced on October 6, 2022, following its leak, first spotted on the Japanese retailer website, Neowing. With the announcement, we got the official release date and platforms on which NFS Unbound is set to release. Is NFS Unbound On PS4 And Xbox One?
No. NFS Unbound will not release on the previous generation platforms, including Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One. The game is built from the ground up using the Frostbite Engine to utilize the hardware of the current-gen platforms as it supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), Ray Tracing, and other visual and performance features that are impossible to implement on the previous-generation platforms.
When writing this article, NFS Unbound will officially release on PS5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC platforms on December 2, 2022. The game is currently up for pre-orders. Since NFS Unbound is a purely next-gen game, it will feature cross-platform support. Irrespective of the platform, you can play NFS Unbound with your friends by adding them to your Friends List and inviting them to a race or stroll around the game's open world.
As for cross-save, sadly, the feature is absent from NFS Unbound. So, if you plan on playing the game on multiple platforms, you have to progress the game again and again.
