Octopath Traveler 2 multiplayer would be a great experience for those who love to play JRPGs together side-by-side. However, the genre is typically single-player focused as you experience the deep combat and grand story. Does Octopath Traveler 2 have a multiplayer mode? Find out below.

Can You Play Octopath Traveler 2 Multiplayer?

Is Octopath Traveler 2 multiplayer?

Despite the many characters at your disposal in the gamethere are no Octopath Traveler 2 multiplayer or co-op modes to speak of. It's a shame as some JRPG players love to experience this genre with their partners, roommates, and friends. The first game in the series is also like this, just as an exclusively single-player experience.

Even though you won't be able to play Octopath Traveler 2 multiplayer, the sequel will likely exude hours upon hours of content. According to HowLongToBeat, the first game takes around 80 hours to beat when you consider the main campaign and side content. Completionists, according to the website, played the game for over 100 hours.

If you're still curious about Octopath Traveler 2, there's a free demo you can try on the Nintendo eShop, Steam, and PlayStation Store. You can get a taste of the gameplay, story, and gorgeous art style, and then you can carry over your save progress to the full game if you decide to purchase it. Unfortunately, Octopath Traveler 2 is not available on Xbox Game Pass at the time of writing.

Are There Any Multiplayer JRPGs?

Final Fantasy XIV Multiplayer JRPG

Multiplayer JRPGs are very hard to find as they typically focus on the single-player storyline. However, there are some suggestions we have that can help you take in something similar to an Octopath Traveler 2 multiplayer experience.

The first is the multiplayer Japanese MMORPGs Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis and Final Fantasy XIVBoth can be played for free (a lengthy trial for FF14 and one needs a subscription to invite) and have many hours of content that is available. You can party up, take on bosses, and hang out with each other in the beautiful worlds each game offers.

There is also the Tales of series, an action-RPG set of games that allow two players to control party members at the same time. They typically have engrossing stories to follow and a bunch of special moves to master in your combos. Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition supports local co-op once you find a second character to join the party.
