When does One Piece Odyssey take place in the anime & manga timeline?
Fans trying to find out when One Piece Odyssey takes place can find the answer here in this timeline guide telling you the anime episode & manga chapter marks.
Gamers who happen to love its namesake anime & manga will probably want to know where One Piece Odyssey takes place within the main series timeline.
With well over 1000 episodes and chapters under its belt, it's easy for any fan old or new to wonder how much catching up they need to do before playing the game, unless they don't mind going in slightly blind without all of the extra context of the events so far.
So, let's get into exactly when in the anime and manga timeline One Piece Odyssey takes place.
Spoiler Warning: This guide includes spoilers for the events of One Piece's Dressrosa and Whole Cake Island arcs.
Where does One Piece Odyssey take place in the timeline?
One Piece Odyssey takes place between the Whole Cake Island and Wano arcs, so at around episode 877 of the anime and chapter 903 of the manga.
Whilst the game never states what time period One Piece Odyssey is set in, we've been able to determine its place in the timeline by looking at the Straw Hat crew member's bounties as shown by their Wanted posters within the in-game menu.
For example, Luffy's bounty in Odyssey is 1.5 billion Berries, as it is following him becoming the head of the Straw Hat Fleet, all of the chaos he caused at Whole Cake Island, and the big wins he racked up against Cracker and Katakuri - all before it went up again after the Wano Arc.
Meanwhile, other crew members have their bounties at the same time period as well. You'll notice Sanji's is at 330 million berries - along with the notice going back to saying "Dead or Alive" when before it just said "Only Alive".
Usopp's bounty is at the 200 million berry mark whilst being referred to as "God Usopp" for defeating Sugar during the Dressrosa arc. Then there's Chopper, with his hilariously low bounty of only 100 berries.
How are the Straw Hats together between the Whole Cake Island & Wano Arcs?
Being at this particular place in the timeline does present some confusion as to why all of the Straw Hat crew are together at this time, since they were split into two groups before the Wano arc. However, the fact that the One Piece Odyssey is non-canon does clear things up pretty easily.
Many anime films and games - including the most recent One Piece Red - aren't canon to the main series' timeline. So, it stands to reason that One Piece Odyssey is merely set in an alternate non-canon universe that's still set between those two big arcs.
With that, you now have all you need to know about when One Piece Odyssey takes place in the manga and anime timeline.
