Players jumping on the release of Overwatch 2 will likely be wondering when Kiriko coming to the ranked game mode. Kiriko is one of the brand-new heroes to arrive with the release of Overwatch 2.

However, Kiriko is not currently available to use in ranked game modes. Let's dive deeper to find out why and figure out when Kiriko will be coming to Overwatch 2 ranked.

When will Kiriko come to Ranked in Overwatch 2?

Kiriko will become available in ranked play on October 18th, 2022. When new characters are added to Overwatch 2, they are typically unavailable in ranked for the first two weeks.

This is to give players a chance to learn the character, understand how to play or play against them, and for any major issues to be ironed out.

Why Is Kiriko Not Available In Overwatch 2 Ranked?

Whenever a new hero character arrives in Overwatch, it's common practice for them to be locked out of the competitive mode for at least a few weeks. During this time, developer Blizzard analyses player data to ensure that the character is properly balanced before it enters the ranked pool.

As Kirkko is a brand new character in Overwatch 2, Blizzard needs to see how she plays out in public matches before letting her loose in ranked lobbies. You might be wondering why Junker Queen and Sojourn aren't locked out of ranked despite also being brand-new characters.

This is likely because these two characters were available to play during the Overwatch 2 Beta, meaning Blizzard already has plenty of data to help balance these heroes.
