Tips for playing Lucio
Lucio is a support character, so his primary role is healing his teammates. Lucio is a passive healer, best used as a secondary healer alongside a hero with more direct healing, like Mercy.
He is a perfect partner to more direct healers, his passive healing topping up the whole group's health while the main healer focuses more on keeping them alive.
A key part of playing Lucio is making effective use of both of his boosts. Knowing when to swap between your speed boost and healing is key. Generally what you want to do is use his speed boost to get you and your teammates from your spawn point to the objective.
Be conscious of where your teammates are, to make sure they can all get in on your speed boost. Once you reach the objective and start getting into fights, swap to the health boost to heal your team.
In a fight, Lucio is no slouch. His weapon does decent damage, but he is by no means a DPS character. He can pepper tanks with shots, and use his Soundwave ability to knock enemies around and off the map.
His Wall Ride is especially useful in combat. Lucio moves faster while wall riding, making him even harder to hit. Constant movement and wall riding makes Lucio a tricky target, which goes hand-in-hand with his passive healing. Stay on the move to keep the healing going.
His ultimate is also a perfect way to give your team a second a chance in a fight that's not going your way, giving everyone the necessary health boost to carry on and take out the enemy team.
