Those that are super excited to play as soon as the game releases will want to know the Overwatch 2 release time. Overwatch 2 is set to replace the original Overwatch when it launches on October 4th. That means anyone who is currently enjoying the first game will sadly have to move over to the new one. But when can you expect to jump into the new title? Here is the exact release time for Overwatch 2.
- Here's everything you need to know about the Overwatch 2 preload time and file size.
Overwatch 2 Release Time
The official release time for Overwatch 2 according to Blizzard is 20:00 BST on October 4th. This goes for all platforms, including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Servers for the original Overwatch are scheduled to be shut down 24 hours earlier at 20:00 BST on October 3rd. That means there will be a whole day where players are unable to play any Overwatch at all.
However, Blizzard has released a checklist of things that players should do before they jump into Overwatch 2. In a blog post, the developer details the new SMS Protect feature, which should hopefully prevent cheaters and griefers from being prevalent in the newly free-to-play game. There's also information about how players can preload the game as it will differ depending on the platform you're playing on.
There should hopefully be plenty of new content to enjoy in Overwatch 2 as it's intended to be a complete overhaul of the multiplayer mode. The 6v6 competitive experience has been slimmed down to 5v5, and a host of new maps and a new mode look to keep things fresh. There are also three new heroes to learn, two of which are free for all players. The third, Kiriko, is available to unlock in the Battle Pass, or immediately for those that own the original game. You can learn more about that in our guide to the Overwatch 2 Founders Pack.
