With the player count slowly declining for Overwatch 2, Season 12 needs to bring some pretty big advancements to win over its players once more - especially with the likes of Marvel Rivals waiting in the wings.
Thankfully, there is a brand new Hero to dive into with Juno (formerly codenamed Space Ranger), two new Clash maps and fresh Mythic Skins for Reaper and Ana.
Here’s everything we know about Season 12 of Overwatch 2 so far, including its start date and all the expected additions.
Expected start date for Season 12
Overwatch's twelfth season will kick off on August 20, 2024. This is a week sooner than we anticipated given the end date for Season 11, but means we'll get to grips with Juno even sooner.
New Support Hero Juno
The tentpole addition arriving in Season 12 is Juno, the 51st Hero to come to Overwatch 2.
Fitting the role of a Support Hero, Juno was first teased at Blizzcon 2023 as 'Space Ranger', with early concept art of their design. She features a fairly futuristic, robot design, with gravity boots and a jetpack fitted to their suit.
She features an intriguing moveset that combines elements from many of the game's most popular Heroes. Check out a full breakdown below:
Weapons & Ultimate
- Primary Fire: Mediblaster
- Burst fire weapon that heals allies and deals damage to enemies
- Secondary Fire: Pulsar Torpedoes
- Holding Secondary Fire locks on to enemies, allowing you to fire homing projectiles onto enemies and allies with your Primary Fire
- Ultimate: Orbital Ray
- Call down a ray that travels forward, healing allies and increasing their damage
Abilities
- Glide Boost
- Glide horizontally with increased movement speed
- Hyper Ring
- Deploy a ring that increases the movement speed of allies that pass through it
- Passive: Martian Overboots
- While airborne, press the jump button to trigger a double jump, and hold the jump button to hover in the air
Overall, Juno seems like a very strong hero who is capable of supporting her teammates in a number of different ways. Keep their health topped up with your Primary Fire and Ultimate, and increase their movement with your various abilities.
When is Juno available?
Juno was available to play during a limited-time trial between July 19 and July 21. She'll be available from day one on Season 12's launch date.
Maps and Modes
Clash mode will arrive with two new maps: Hanaoka and Throne of Anubis.
The mode sees teams battle it out over five capture points, with the frontline of the battle moving back and forth in a linear fashion. It’s essentially a reworked version of 2CP from the original Overwatch, which is an exciting prospect for veteran fans longing for some nostalgia.
Rank Reset will also be in effect, and a new Hero Mastery training tool will be coming, too.
Mythic Skins and Battle Pass
In addition, we know that we’ll be getting a brand new Battle Pass filled with cosmetic unlocks to grind through.
This time, we're getting a new Hero Mythic Skin and a new Mythic Weapon Skin - Mythic Anubis Reaper and Mythic Midnight Ana's weapon skin.
The Anubis skin is above in all its glory, but you can also expect fresh new Battle Pass and Store skins.
