Overwatch 2 kicked things off to a successful start with the current Greek-themed Battle for Olympus season, and now Season 3 is on the way - so here's all we know so far.
With Overwatch 2, its Seasons usually operate on nine-week cycles, however, we can expect Season 3 sooner than you think. For a full rundown of everything we know so far about the upcoming season in the game, including the release date and news on any new characters, keep reading.
When does Overwatch Season 3 start?
As per the official Overwatch 2 roadmap, the start date for Season 3 is February 7, 2023. If what you're looking for is more of a specific time, you're in luck - you should be able to jump into the action from 7 PM GMT.
Are there any new characters in Season 3 of Overwatch 2?
Unfortunately, Blizzard has confirmed that Season 3 will not include any new characters. Indeed, going forward with their current roadmap, Blizzard has said that new seasons will alternate between offering a new character or new map to the game, with Season 3 starting things off with a new map.
What is the new map in Overwatch 2 Season 3?
Speaking of a new map, Blizzard has revealed that the new addition in Overwatch 2 Season 3 will be Antarctic Peninsula. This will be a new Control map, which is a mode that sees teams fight for, well, control of a capture point across three different levels.
This is exciting for players as, technically, we're getting three different variations within the new map. Plus, Control is one of the more balanced and popular game modes in Overwatch 2 right now. To top it all off, the Antarctic Peninsula has adorable penguins. What more could you want?
New Mythic skin & reward updates
The new Season of Overwatch 2 will, of course, come with a brand new Battle Pass for players to purchase and new cosmetics to unlock.
At the end of each Battle Pass, players can work towards unlocking a coveted Mythic Skin that's even better than golden Legendaries.
While last month saw Junker Queen getting the Mythic Skin treatment, Season 3 brings Kiriko into the spotlight with the Amaterasu skin. To unlock it, you'll need to purchase the Battle Pass and reach Level 80 before the Season runs its course.
While there will be new skins available in the shop, you'll also find new earnable currency to redeem against skins. Overwatch 2's cosmetic pricing has been a point of controversy since the sequel launched, so it'll be interesting to see how much of a grind it is to earn these skins - and whether they're worth the work at all.
Overwatch 2 One Punch Man crossover
Overwatch 2 is getting an anime crossover for Season 3 - or at least Doomfist is.
With a new outfit inspired by One Punch Man, Doomfist will cosplay as Saitama from March 7 to April 6, 2023 - and fans can expect multiple skins and a new loading screen.
