There are few better feelings in a multiplayer game than a new season, and that is very much true with the upcoming Overwatch 2 Season 4 drop. While offering slightly different 'events' than the first game, new seasons in Overwatch 2 are still well worth checking back in for, as there is a plethora of new content to enjoy.

With new implementations and the tweaks made in the most recent Overwatch 2 patch, many more are wondering when Season 4 will start. Let's get into it in this Overwatch 2 Season 4 guide - covering the release date, new heroes, the Battle Pass, and more.

Is there an Overwatch 2 season 4 release date?

Courtesy of the trailer for the new hero, Lifeweaver, we now know exactly when Season 4 will begin. Fans do not have long to wait at all, as Season 4 begins on 11 April.

Players only have a couple more days to finish off any Season 3 content they need to do, as the new season and the new hero are coming very soon.

Overwatch 2 Season 4 new heroes

Overwatch 2 Season 4: New support hero, Lifeweaver

As confirmed in a September 2022 Blizzard blog post, Overwatch 2 Season 4 will see the release of a new support hero. The following Overwatch 2 hero will make its debut in Season 6, as part of its model in new heroes coming out every alternate season.

As we now know, that hero is Lifeweaver. He is indeed a support hero, who can heal several of his teammates at once. Further, he has the ability to draw his teammates closer to him, a great way to save a friend from careening over an edge.

His ultimate creates a huge tree, which heals and buffs all allies in its radius. Check out the full Lifeweaver abilities list right here.

In case you're wondering, yes, his abilities have plenty of trolling potential - like yanking teammates back to spawn or over ledges. We asked the development team, and they said they're aware - but are hoping it'll elevate support players.

So far, there has been no information on what will come with the Battle Pass for Overwatch 2 Season 4. However, it's safe to assume it will come with additional rewards like those mentioned in the September 2022 Blizzard blog post before Season 1.

These were unlockable awards spread across multiple tiers including exclusive skins, weapon charms, souvenirs, highlight intros, prestige tier items, emotes, victory poses, and more.

As you may expect, Lifeweaver can be earned through the Battle Pass. Find out how with our Lifeweaver unlock guide.

Overwatch 2 Season 4 map pool changes

Whilst any new major features haven't been announced for the upcoming season, Director Aaron Keller announced in a February 2023 Blizzard blog post that map pools - the subject amongst Overwatch 2's biggest received complaints - "are going away starting in season 4".

Said with the original aim to provide "a bit of freshness" to each season, map pools ended up being one of Overwatch 2's most unpopular features by limiting the number of maps available to different players. Whether you're a casual or veteran Overwatch 2 player, this will be a welcome change for the community all around.

We also know, thanks to a development team interview, that the Gothenburg map is still planned - but it may be a few seasons away.

That's all there is to know for now on the Overwatch 2 Season 4 release date, new heroes, Battle Pass, and more. In the meantime, check out how to convert CS:GO sensitivity to Overwatch 2. Better yet, check out how to get the One Punch Man skin in Overwatch 2.
