In Palia, there are four main ways for you to start obtaining all the recipes in the game. Those methods are:

A great general rule to follow is to investigate all buildings and houses within the neighbourhoods of Palia, as they usually contain a recipe or two.
Best recipes for Focus
With 900 Focus points at its base value and even more for star quality, the Celebration Cake will give you the highest amount of Focus.
The Celebration Cake will be a bit of a grind to unlock, however, as it requires you to have cooking level nine before you can purchase the recipe from Reth.
For earlier-game Focus options, the Akwinduu Chapaa recipe is a great option. You do not need any skill or friendship level requirements to unlock it, you simply must find three recipe pages in Bahari Bay, north of the Statue Garden.
The ingredients are easy enough to obtain as well, to make Akwinduu Chapaa you need:
- Chapaa Meat
- Butter
- Potato
- Any Mushroom
- Wild Garlic
- Spice Sprouts
All the above ingredients are ones you should be able to harvest, grow and hunt for in the starting stages of Palia. Mushrooms, Garlic and Spice Sprouts can be foraged whilst Potato seeds and Butter can be purchased from the General Store.
Best recipes to sell for gold
In terms of the best recipes for gold, the Celebration Cake is again the highest-value dish. It does require many ingredients like Butter and Eggs that will dip into your profit, however, and the recipe requires cooking level nine.
For early-game options, the Fish Stew leaves a great margin for profit as all ingredients can be foraged and fished yourself. Fish Stew requires the following:
- Any Fish
- Any Spice
- Wild Garlic
Fish Stew is versatile and can be made from low-profit fish. At its base value, you can make 31 gold per dish which can increase to 51 gold if it is star-quality.
