Giving gifts in Palia is the fastest way to secure a friendship with the wild and wacky NPCs, which can even lead to romance in the game if you're lucky.

For a full list of all the best gifts to give to villagers in Palia and for a rundown of how gift-giving and weekly wants work in the game, see here.

How to give gifts to earn friendship

There are three main ways to earn friendship points with villagers in Palia, either by speaking with each NPC once per day, gifting them a loved item, or fulfilling weekly wants.

To earn a slow steady stream of points, simply speak to an NPC and choose the 'Chat with...' interaction. This will bring up some unique dialogue and will register friendship points with that character.

The most common way to earn points is by gifting items to villagers once per real-world day (Gifting resets every day at 4 AM UTC). To do so, when speaking with a villager you can choose the gift box icon to the left of the speech bubble, this will bring up your inventory. Then, simply select the item you wish to give to the villager as a gift.

Villagers also have weekly wants. These are updated each week on Mondays at 4 AM UTC and can only be given once per week to each NPC to earn a boosted amount of friendship points.

To learn an NPC's weekly want, simply interact with them, then click the question mark option below the gift box symbol, (left of the dialogue bubble).

Some villagers will refuse gifts if they don’t like them. To get the maximum amount of friendship points try to gift a villager an item they either like or love. For a full list of all villager's loved items, see below.
