How to get Kindling in Palworld

Kindling is a skill certain Pals possess in Palworld. One early game Pal has it, making it essential. Here’s how you find it, catch it, and put it to work.

You need all sorts of resources and Pals to properly use all the different stations in your Palworld base, but one of the slightly more confusing ones is Kindling.

You’ll first see this on your campfire and Furnace. It reads in-game as though it’s a resource, but it’s actually a skill that certain Pals have, just like Cooling or Lumbering.

Where to find Kindling Pals in Palworld

The first and easiest to find Pal with the Kindling ability is Foxparks. This vulpine Pal can be found in multiple locations on the Palpagos Islands, but you’ll first find them wandering around the path that leads from the Plateau of Beginnings, where you start your adventure, down to the Rayne Syndicate Tower.

I wouldn’t recommend you go out looking for a Foxparks right away. They tend to be a little stronger than the cute Chikipi and Lamball that inhabit the top of the slopes. While not a challenge once you’ve levelled yourself and your team up a bit, their ability to set you on fire and do damage over time can really ruin your day right at the very start of your adventure. This also makes them great for base defence, though.

Although you can cook on a fire by yourself, you need a Pal with Kindling to use the furnace and turn Ore into Ingots, so you'll need to go Foxparks hunting. You can use a bow to keep your distance from the flame-spitting Foxparks and damage them from afar, or catch a Pengullet to douse its flames while you chuck Spheres at it.

How to use Kindling in Palworld

Once you’ve caught a Foxparks, simply use your Palbox to add it to the work rotation at your base. It is quite literally only capable of Kindling, so if you’ve got food queued in your Campfire or Ore in your Furnace, it should automatically get to work without getting distracted by other things. If it doesn’t, simply walk up to it, pick it up, and chuck it at the workstation you want it to interact with.

Since its only skill is Kindling, you may want to return it to your Palbox when you’re not cooking or smelting, instead replacing it with something like a Cattiva, a Pal that has Mining, Handiwork, Gathering, and Transporting skills – a much better all-rounder for your base, especially in the early game.

Once you get further into Palworld, you may want to swap out your trusty Foxparks for a more versatile Kindling Pal like Reptyro or Ragnahawk, a flying Pal that has three points in Kindling and Transport. These skills make it perfect for producing and storing food and Ingots.
