With PAYDAY 3 just around the corner, many fans will be wondering if they will need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live subscription to play the game. The last PAYDAY game was ten years ago, and offered plenty of heists for you to complete with up to four players.
Now, we are returning to the series and this time around, there will be fresh heists for players to conquer with pals - all of which will be set in the city of New York - although more heists and locations will be added later down the line.
When the last PAYDAY was released in 2013, you didn’t even need an active PlayStation Plus subscription in order to play online games. The whole online landscape is completely different now, that’s why we are answering what online requirements you might need to play PAYDAY 3 and if you will need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live in order to play the game.

Will you need PlayStation Plus to play PAYDAY 3?
Unfortunately, you will require a PlayStation Plus subscription in order to play PAYDAY 3. This is according to the game’s official page on the PlayStation Store.
This means that because it is an online game, PAYDAY 3 is not playable at all unless you have PlayStation Plus.
PlayStation Plus has three tiers (Essential, Extra, and Premium) and you will only need the cheapest (Essential) in order to play the game online. As such, it's best to factor in the cost of PlayStation Plus when purchasing PAYDAY 3 on PlayStation.

Will you need Xbox Live to play PAYDAY 3?
Xbox is the same as PlayStation here, unfortunately, as PAYDAY 3 also requires Xbox Live in order to play. Fortunately with Xbox, if you are a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, then you will have Xbox Live included as part of your subscription.
Just like on PlayStation, it's impossible to play PAYDAY 3 offline on Xbox platforms. So, if you want to play the game at all, it's essential to own an Xbox Live subscription.

Do you need to pay for PAYDAY 3 online services on PC?
No, you will not need to pay for PAYDAY 3 online services as they are completely free to use if you're playing on PC, regardless of where you purchase the game. This is a luxury that PC players have gotten pretty used to at this point, and that doesn't change with the release of PAYDAY 3.
If you own and play PAYDAY 3 on PC, then there are no additional charges to consider when playing online.
