The canon name of the P3's protagonist is Makoto Yuki. This has been confirmed by being the default name for the 2023 port of Persona 3 Portable and the four-part animated Persona 3 The Movie series, subtitled "No. 1, Spring of Birth", " No. 2, Midsummer Knight's Dream", "No. 3, Falling Down", and "No. 4, Winter of Rebirth".
Although the male protagonist of P3 has had certain different names in other media, including Sakuya Shiomi in the Persona 3: The Weird Masquerade stage adaptation and Minato Arisato in the manga, Makoto Yuki stands as the canon name.
Whether Makoto Yuki will be the canon name of the protagonist in Persona 3 Reload remains to be seen. However, since the remake is recapturing all of the content in the original game, it's likely P-Studio have stuck with the name that's already been established as canon.

The canon name of the female protagonist in Persona 3 is Kotone Shiomi - although she has only appeared in P3P and the aforementioned The Weird Masquerade stage play.
