Everybody loves it when the new PlayStation Plus games roll around, with new Essential titles to claim forever, and a bunch of hotly anticipated titles entering the PS Plus subscription library.

While some games will unfortunately leave the service, the addition of new experiences always gives you something to play, and I know I've discovered some of my favourite games in recent times through all three tiers.

All Essential PS+ games for May

  • EA Sports FC 24 Standard Edition
  • Ghostrunnner 2
  • Tunic
  • Destiny 2: Lightfall
  • The EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Team Starter Pack

This is quite the jam-packed month when it comes to games, and likely has something that piques everyone's interest. EA FC 24 is certainly a popular choice, and serves as the place to go for football, especially when you consider its blockbuster Ultimate Team game mode.

If you are taking the plunge, make sure to also download the Starter Pack for a little boost at the beginning, and you should also see what the cheapest 85 rated players are here for any SBCs, and also the best players to use for every Evolution.

Ghostrunner 2 is also definitely one to keep an eye out for if you're a fan of parkour or all-around action, and Tunic is one of the most celebrated indie titles of the past few years, bringing the Zelda format to the world of a little fox.

Finally, Destiny 2 is certainly no small game, but you'll be able to get on 2023's expansion to catch up - which also includes the unlock of the powerful Strand subclass.

You'll be able to claim these games on May 7, 2024, so that means that you've thankfully still got until May 6 to claim last month's offerings, which include the magic-based first-person fantasy Immortals of Aveum, Minecraft Legends - which brings real-time action strategy to the world of blocks, and roguelike platformer Skul: The Hero Slayer, which I've certainly had on my backlog.

Here are the April Extra & Premium PS+ games

  • Animal Well (launching May 9)
  • Tales of Kenzera: Zau (launching April 23)
  • Dave the Diver
  • Oddballers
  • Construction Simulator
  • The Crew 2
  • Raji: An Ancient Epic
  • Lego Ninjago Movie Videogame
  • Nour: Play With Your Food
  • Deliver Us Mars
  • Lego Marvel's Avengers
  • Miasma Chronicles
  • Stray Blade

All titles listed above will be available on April 16, apart from Animal Well and Tales of Kenzera: Zau, which will both arrive on their respective launch days.

It's always exciting to have two day-one titles joining the service, and both Animal Well and Tales of Kenzera: Zau are hotly anticipated - giving you even more to look forward to.

Joining them in the headliners for this month too is Dave the Diver, which was one of the most acclaimed games of 2023, and places you in the shoes of a deep sea diver and restaurant owner combined. It's definitely been one that I've kept my eyes on, so this month is the perfect time to take the plunge - both figuratively and literally in this case!

Classics Collection

In addition to the games highlighted above, there will be three PlayStation Classics games joining the PlayStation Premium service:

  • Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
  • Star Wars: Rebel Assault II
  • MediEvil
